I don't think you realise how thick the walls are and how shallow those remaining little wheel cuts are.
Im not worried about them one bit.
I may do a little skim cut to outline the side windows though because it looks cool.

Hec no, I was a teamster for 38 years. I worked my butt off so my family would have good benefits and a roof over their head. Put my wife through school to boot.

I never thought I would be able to retire when I was 57....

Here's a good one guys, as related to me by the owner.

I was contacted by an older local guy, a Vietnam vet. I'd met him briefly once before at one of our brandings, a few months back, as he's the grandfather of one of my cowboys. My cowboy had asked permission for his grandfather to come out and watch for a while and he did. We talked some about guns and holsters when we met but not a bunch as kinda busy at those times.

Anyhoo few weeks back he called and placed an order for a Loop Holster for an older Colt single action. We discussed barrel length on his Colt as thats really all I needed to know about the gun to get the holster right and since he was local he'd come and pick it up instead of us shipping it to him. I got the holster done and gave him a call to come pick er up and he brought his Colt with him to check the fit. Here's the story he relayed on the Colt:

His great, great grandfather had a ranch outside of Columbus NM. A guy come riding in on a sore footed and wore out horse and ended up trading this Colt with his great, great grandfather for a new mount. The current owner got this story from his great grandmother as a young boy. She was now owner of the ranch and he spent a lot of time there as a youngster. He said he cleaned this revolver every Friday for his great grandmother, for several years. As she was declining in health his great grand mother had a talk with his grandmother on who to leave the Colt too. They both decided on the current owner. The grandmother told her if you want it to go to him I need to take it now to California or he'll never see it. Great grandmother agreed as she knew there were several uncles and other relatives in the way that were interested in the Colt. She had appreciated the weekly cleanings and knew he would take care of it so to California it went. His grandmother presented it to him on his 13th birthday and he's been in possession of it since then.







He did not know the exact age, so I helped him check the serial #. According to Colt it was made in 1877! I told him he shouldn't shoot regular ammo in it as it was a black powder frame. He said he had already years ago and the action was grittier than it had been so he had quit firing it.

Anyhoo kinda a cool old Colt and a story for the MLC.

They start work at 2 a.m., drive trucks to some location, set up base camp, rig trailer electrical from a 1000 amp "plant", and are all standing at the ready when the rest of the film crew roll in at 5:30 a.m.

And folks wonder when they see an occasional driver napping in the cab while parked...
