A while back I posted pics of a Colt Bisley and an 1892 both in.38-40.
Well the plot thickened in a weird and wonderful way. I had been contacted by the owner of the guns, a long time customer, and we were discussing me building a new holster and cartridge belt for the Colt and then he was talking too about a scabbard for the 92. We hadn't finished up the details yet and no solid order to start on. He called and ordered a couple of knives as presents for the guides at a place he'd gone quail hunting at. I asked him if I should put the holster and belt on this order too and he says no. I say Ok and finish writing up the order on the knives. Then he says: "Dave I'm gifting you the Colt." I fall over and croak out "what?" "I'm gifting you the Colt, it needs to be with a cowboy and you are way more cowboy than I will ever be." Besides he says:" you have a good spirit and your knives always come with a good spirit." He's probably bought 20 plus knives over the years. I of course coudn't speak, I mean what do ya say? I babbled something.
So the FFLs talked and my local guy explained to his FFL in FL what they needed to do to keep CA happy. Bout 10 days later I get a call from the Postal Inspector in Bakersfield. The packaged had been dropped and the pistol had spilled out on the floor. He got the info for the FFL and where to ship it to and it got there bout a month over due. Now all the paperwork is missing, even though thats how the Inspector knew hot to call me. So my FFL contacts his FFL and they just drag their feet on redoing the paperwork, which makes ya wonder if they had done it in the first place. Finally after several calls and emails my FFL tells em the gun is here in Ca illegally and will have to be turned over to law enforcement. Not true, but they do have to send it back. The bluff worked and they had the paperwork that day. They told me they've used that bluff in the past with success. Anyhoo, went down did all the paperwork and got ol Colt starting his jail sentence. This was successfully completed and here we are.
The Colt was made in 1906:
It locks up as tight as my Vaquero:
The holster that accompanied it is a Herman Heiser.
They are dated by the maker's mark used:
This one dates the holster to between 1910 and 1926.
Couple weeks ago we were talking on the phone as he was ordering another knife and he asked if I had shot it yet. I said no as I couldn't find any ammo. Few days later get a call from my local LGS and he'd sent a box of ammo. Plus its raining! What does a guy say?

. I like this one better than the long barrel one I got off of Gunbroker a while back, so that one is going to go up for sale in a bit.
