Bob, 'bossman is right. Sitting in a dirt road, you toss something at 'em, they just fly to the nearest tree and usually, the lowest limb! Its a wonder they're not extinct! Tasty guys tho.

Tom, did you get the garbage disposal in?

FWIW, I'm committed now to take Cole, his GF and another buddy out in the morning to the MLC spot. Cole's GF is/was a SBCS explorer, her dad was LAPD and is now head security for the family that owns the Milwaukee Brewers (its not as good as it sounds)

I'll let you guys know how the roads are up there.

You guys enjoy the MLC area. Just keep an eye on things Mark.

              apropos of replacing garbage disposals...

during Iraq Pac 90-91 (initially west pac that was extended) I was assigned to A-gang (auxiliaries) and galley equipment was in our area of responsibility..

one evening after chow secured, a mess crank reported to our office the main line scullery garbage grinder wasn't working.. it was my night on duty A so I responded and found the motor was b/o and had to be replaced.. I found the duty SK and we pulled a spare from GSK (stores)

while laying on the floor disconnecting the 10hp grinder, the bypass tube was stuck on there but good.. when it finally let go, a massive stream of black slime shot me from head to toe with an indescribable smell..

after I installed the new unit and ran the remaining leftover evening chow down the machine with the duty crank, I heaved the old machine back to the shop..

two ACU5 guys from the embarked LCU were hanging out in our shop.. as soon as I walked in, the one sitting in my LPO's desk puked in the burn bag on the floor and the other was sitting on the workbench ran out puking into his hands - both calling me colorful names

              it's not just a job - it's an adventure!
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

Kids!!! That's why I like the way we do things. But, the young ones have to grow into it. they simply have to pay attention when they're out there with you/us. Or anything in life. Hell, we didn't get this old by being stupid. Life 101 right there.

Thanks Chris. Only the second time I've tried that old fashion tooling.

Chris, Tom, nothing at the spot has changed. I saw no flooding signs anywhere.
If anything the roads are a little smoother to drive on.

FWIW, I got the Henry Long Ranger to group better, a tennis ball at 50 yards.( could have been the scope mounting Tom) but the trigger is really bad. That gun will never be a shooter with that trigger.

Good news on the area. We'll have to head out that way when I get back.
So, what's the next step with the Henry? Local 'smith or send it back? Damn bummer.

Isn't it time to send that sucker back to Henry and have them fix both issues, so you can start to enjoy it?
