He worked at Bolsa Gunsmithing for years, mainly on rifles - accurizing, truing actions, bedding, rebarreling and all the lathe work - he was the only one who knew who to operate the old manual lathe they have so he made custom small parts as needed for repairs, etc.
He has been retired for years and I have not spoken to him for that long - he was a real jerk when our Mom passed as I was the trustee of her trust. He got an attorney and fought just about everything I had to do, costing himself and my other brother and me thousands of dollars.Comment

It's really easy to make trigger pulls heavier.I've got a Ruger Security Six in 38 special (Service Six? Maybe, I don't remember which model exactly) that shoots REALLY well with light wadcutter loads, but the trigger is too light for my liking and, in my opinion, for safety. I got a screaming good deal on it a long time ago sight unseen, and it is marked as an old Nevada police gun, and shows plenty of wear to make me believe it was packed around in a leather holster in rainy desert weather...but the trigger is right on the edge of I don't like it. Fine for target shooting, but...
Just put in a stronger spring or a spacer behind the spring it already has.Randall Rausch

If I remember correctly the diff between the two was adjustable sights on the Security Six and fixed on the Service Six.I've got a Ruger Security Six in 38 special (Service Six? OUTSTANDING! Just like the one I inherited from my Dad. I'm surprised he didn't show a picture of the tang with model 1936 engraved on it.
Enjoy!

Very nice 1936 Marlin. I do like those but I have a 1947 Win Model 94, so my .30-30 itch has been satisfied.
I have to say that this group has been very informative and enjoyable - I love the smoked cheese I have made based upon the info from Randall et al! I am going to smoke about 12 pounds of it in a few days when the temp drops. I think my favorite is mozzarella but that changes depending upon what I am munching on at the time....Comment
