That's awesome news! Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since final approval and I still haven't received anything about a pick up date. Hopefully this will help!

When I went in a couple of weeks ago the new process is bringing large groups of people in. When I picked up my permit, there were 30 other people all together in one large room with six employees streamlining the process. All 30 of us were in that room and out of that room with our permits in 30 minutes. When I left, in the lobby there were 30 more people.

If they continue this process it should help a lot.
How long did it take between final approval and pick up date on your experience?

Hey guys, just wanted to gauge if LiveScans are coming back sooner than the 3-4 months that I have been reading on this thread? The reason why I ask is, I did my LiveScan a few days before my initial interview and now got a conditional email of approval and within the email, it states that their database shows that they have my DOJ/FBI/Firearms clearance. Forgot to mention that I got an 800 off one of the threads here to check the status of Live Scans, and mine still says pending for CA and FBI process. Below is my timeline for reference. Are there others that has had live scans come back this fast?

              9/07/16 - Requested Appt
              9/08/16 - Initial appt set for 3/13/17
              3/10/17 - Live Scan Completed
              3/13/17 - Initial Appt
              3/14/17 - Residency Check
4/21/17 - Conditional approval email received
              4/29/17 - CCW Training Scheduled

Had my final pickup this morning. BIG thanks to OCSD - they are definitely doing all they can do to get people issued. Today they were going gangbusters with 30 ppl a group, every 30 mins for pickups. At least 6-7 support staff working the process.

Updated Final Timeline - 10 months, 24 days
Note: It would have been a 6-7 month process had I not waited a few months to buy another pistol before completing the training. (Even quicker had I completed the Livescan before my initial interview.)

                6/2/2016 - Appointment request
                6/9/2016 - Initial appointment set for 10/12/2016
                10/12/2016 - Initial appointment
                10/13/2016 - Livescan completed
12/29/2016 - 1st Conditional approval received (Pending Livescan)
2/10/2017 - 2nd Conditional approval received, Livescan received (Pending Training)
4/9/2017 - CCW Training w/ OC Firearms Academy
4/10/2017 - Submitted proof of training
4/19/2017 - Received final pickup appointment confirmation email
                4/25/2017 - Final pick-up - CCW Received!

Couldn't agree more with SDOLAN617 the team there did everything to make the process go without a hitch, Definitely check your card for errors, they will make the corrections before they let you go.

Submitted renewal app end of Feb. my license expires mid July. More info requested for my renewal.
                      Investigator tells me :
"James, I’m updating you renewal application. Most of what your wrote in your statement is “Self-Protection” which we no longer issue permits for. If you can send me work verification (paycheck stub will work) and invoices for expensive equipment you are transporting ill submit your file for review."

Of course it's for self protection , isn't that the point of having a ccw?

Thanks for sharing that communication from your investigator.
My GCS was a full page and I had to reduce the font to make it fit it on one page.
My CCW permit was issued because of two sentences on that full page.
They asked for documentation for those 2 items and I was in.

With that knowledge, my GCS will be far less verbose in my next renewal.

                          Hello everyone,

Is there a thread for fellow CCW permit holders to review a GCS? My appt is first week in May and i am wondering if it can be reviewed before going to my interview.

                          Thanks

Sounds like yours came faster than most (that in itself doesn't mean anything, just the luck of the draw.) They won't give you a Conditional Approval unless your CG is solid and your LiveScan has came back, so yeah, you're GTG.

Of course it's for personal protection but Orange County is not "shall issue" so you have to submit another reason besides self-protection alone. That being said, they are really looking for any reason to issue you a permit. Just give them that and you'll be ok.
