So, the "final interview" isn't actually an interview at all ?

If everything is approved, why cant you just pay online, and get your permit sent to you ???

Right. No interview, just a 10 minute pickup, and signature.

In my case, good idea to go in since I found errors on the permit, took 2 minutes to fix and reprint. Think of the game of phone tag you'd be playing if an incorrect permit was received through the mail. Not to mention the increased scrutiny and possible added hassle if presented to LEO on the street.

Directions on approval letter state to "FAX" my training cert over. I see a lot of "I emailed on x date"

          Email or Fax?

Could I do both? Yes! I feel life is a test, and I should follow simple directions given. However, I don't want to use a fax if it is just going to sit there. .

          Thanks,

If their fax printer fails you may need to fax it again.
To be safe, I would fax and email.

They do everything via email - the 'fax' bit is a holdover from days gone by. Scan your docs in as a PDF and attach them to an email to your agent or the department. They will confirm receipt and you'll have good verification of send and receive.

For me, they needed a couple more signatures and another thumbprint. Plus, you should verify the info on the card. If there is a mistake (typo, in my case), they can correct it and reprint your card.

Just an FYI for anyone considering starting the process. I sent the request yesterday 5/22 and just confirmed my appointment for 9/1.

                    And so it begins...

                      I'm with you....emailed 5/21, appointment is 8/31.

In typical governmental fashion....under "Comments" in the request email, I wrote "Prefer Monday or Wednesday appointment". They gave me a Thursday

Gotta love it! Well keep us updated. I'd be interested in seeing how our process time differs based of the other variables. I'm planning on doing training and the live scan as early as possible.

OCSD has been very responsive and professional. As for my interviewer, I wish I can say the same but I didn't take anything personal, it's part of their job. Reading and talking to other people that's gone through the process with a different interviewer it was very positive. The person who's replying to emails (could be Melissa Soto) has been very responsive and pleasant to communicate with.

When I first applied I thought it would be year 2018 before I was issued a permit, let alone get approved. Now it's all done and I am confirmed to pick up permit next week.

Here is my timeline for reference.

9/9/16 - Online request for appointment
9/12/16 - Request rec'd and initial interview set for 3/16/2017
                          3/10/17 - Live Scan started
                          3/16/17 - Initial interview
3/28/17 - 1st residence check (no one was home)
                          4/5/17 - 2nd residence check completed
                          5/3/17 - Conditional Approval
5/19/17 - CCW training completed and fax'd training certs to CCW permits
                          5/23/17 - Re-Cert for 2 additional pistols (add a gun)
5/24/17 - Rec'd email for Permit Issuance and pick up 5/31/17
                          5/31/17 - Still to come...

All in all, it took a total of about 11 weeks from the initial interview till I pick up.
