I just received my pick up date today!!

    TimeLine:
    Interview request: 03/10/16
    Initial interview: 07/22/16
    Live Scan: 07/25/16
    Live Scan received: 12/23/16
    Training: 12/27/16
    Sent in training cert: 01/06/17
    Conditional Approval: 01/13/17
    Pick up: 04/05/17

All in all it took a little over 1 year to get my permit. Everyone at OCSD has been kind and helpful, you just have to be patient I guess.

I just re-read your other post. Since they got your livescan in late January, it usually takes them about 30 days to go from conditional approval to full approval. Then they set you up for appointment based on your place in line. I bet by now your file could be completed. Your best bet is to call the number and ask them to check on your file status. The lady was nice enough to do it while I waited on the phone.

        Live scan Q

I hear there's an OCSD CCW approved list of Live Scan locations in Orange County. What do you guys recommend for southern OC?

Snapshot7, I did mine at postal and parcel I believe it's called off of Alicia and Jeronimo in Mission Viejo. The guy and his wife who own it seem like they have done many CCW livescans as well as being very nice people. I'm sure there are a ton of good places however.

They all have a very sophisticated finger-printing machine that gets all of your digits and sends them electronically to DOJ, FBI, and OCSD. Cost is generally $25 to $30 plus the processing fee of about $75.

I did mine at a local pack-and-ship postal annex place, off the wall in a strip mall. Super easy and quick. They do them for all kinds of security reasons, so they don't even know you're applying for a CCW permit.

Here is the approved list: https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations?county=Orange

I just got mine done yesterday at:

              Orange Co. Sheriff's Dept.
              20202 Windrow Drive
              Lake Forrest, CA 92630
              (949) 206-6100

You have to make an appointment. The cost was $103.

Thinking of applying for a permit in Orange County. For those that have been down this road before,

Do I need to own and list all guns I plan to carry when I submit my application? (I've got a compact on my "Christmas list' already, but would buy now if I had to).

Would submitting the application with a completed Livescan and training certificate help?

                    Thanks in advance!

Has anyone had luck advancing their appointment date by calling and asking about cancellations?

I'd request the appointment. That will tell you how much time you have. The application isn't submitted until your appointment.

Local Politicians are the same wherever. I established residency in Durham NC where the law requires the process be completed within 45 days of application. The local sheriff ALWAYS waits exactly 45 days and then logs a phone call that the application process is complete. Every other County averages 15-20 days. I know even that makes you guys jealous, but I have to leave my gun in NC when I return to Kalifornia.
