I suspect it won't be a problem unless your Good Cause Statement relied on employment factors. I'm an independent contractor, and since self-employed isn't one of their preloaded fields they could put on my permit, they listed me as "none".

EDIT: Just got my appointment, November 3rd. I'm probably gonna die of old age before then.

Just applied. Hoping for the best. Working for the rest.

Although I'm gainfully employed, the occupation field was left blank. Was wondering about that. Guess nothing matched one of their fields.

My CCW expires on 6/21/16. I submitted my renewal on 3/28/16. My good cause statement was decent in my opinion.

I’ve checked in politely with CCW unit several times. My last communication from them was June 10 saying “ we are aware that you are approaching your expiration date. We are doing our best to process the large number of files received for review. We will be in contact with you as soon as the review phase is complete. Your file has already been submitted for approval”

June 21 expiration of my CCW is next Tuesday—no word received.

If they call me in for an appointment on Tuesday, there isn’t time left for my renewal training, which I put off pending approval. So it looks like my good cause statement wasn't good enough? Because I know I don't have any disqualifiers.

          Thoughts?

I don't know anything about your financial situation but for me I would immediately do the training. Yes it is a gamble for spending some money but training is never a waste.

If your GC wasn't good enough, you would have heard by now in all likelihood.

They're simply overwhelmed. You should have done your training so you could have sent it in and not risk being unarmed. If they were to have called you today and said come in Monday you'd be out of luck. You'd need to go unarmed until you got trained.

Ideally every one should be doing their training ahead of time and submitting it with their renewal application. That way the entire thing (application package) can be approved and they can contact you to come in and pick up your card.

Decided to get my training tomorrow morning. I will scan it and email it to CCW, and requested it be added to my completed file. If that doesn't result in a call for an appointment by Monday, I will take the day off on Tuesday and go down to CCW office without a scheduled appointment, and ask them to fit me into the schedule, because my permit expires today.

Think it will work? I will bring pics of me hiking in mountain lion infested, remote canyons, where there is no cell phone coverage.

Getting your training done is a good idea. Showing up w/o an appointment isn't. They have your name in the lobby and if you're not on the list you won't get in.

I am with Dohney on this, call or email, just showing up will not work. If you have applied and not been denied or asked for further documentation, they will treat you as a renewal, although you can't carry after expiration, you won't have to start over.

I thought I remember reading that if you were not renewed by the expiration date, for whatever reason, you had to go back to the beginning and apply as a new applicant.

No, if you didn't start your renewal process before your expiration then you'll have to start all over.

If you already started your renewal process and your permit expires before they issued you a new card, you just won't be able to carry until they issue you your new permit. You DON'T have to start the process all over.

Good thread here. Mine expires in late August 2016 and I reapplied about 85 days before the expiration. My good cause statement was fairly detailed and documented, so I'm cautiously optimistic. We shall see.

They acknowledged receiving the app, so I am in waiting mode. Guess I will go ahead and do the refresher training now.

I have not heard back from the LT approval. Last I heard my paperwork is waiting for final approval. :|
