Do I have to be transporting valuables or protecting something to be considered "good cause"? I'll be working for a company that deals with offender monitoring (ankle bracelets and the like) and "clients" on parole/probation, but I'll be in the IT department, so not exactly high risk to myself.

So what exactly is "good cause" when it comes to applying for an Orange County CCW? My Googling skills are failing me here.

    Thank you for your time.
You need to articulate in a written statement why are you are in grave danger of bodily injury or death in your regular daily activities - above the average normal citizen.

They are fairly flexible and liberal with what qualifies, but you do need to be able to articulate it. IMO it's more a CYA document for each applicant they have on file should anyone actually discharge their carry weapon(s).

There is quite a bit of information, references, and potential members here than can assist you: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1057379

I was just told today that I got final approve for CCW on Thursday. Anyone have an idea as to how long they're taking to send out the emails for pick up date?

        This was back in February.

Thanks guys. Was that two weeks and a month just to get the email or time between date of final approval and pick up date? Yes I sent in the training cert back around February 5th

Mine took two weeks from final approval to actual pickup date.

It seems like it's taking 30 to 60 days in some cases.

Wow, 30-60 days seems awfully long just to schedule a pick-up appt. Is that the average? Waiting a long time does however beat living in a jurisdiction that isn't willing to issue. Very thankful for OCSD! 😎

Same here! First week of May for me. Super stoked! The deputy said they are now opening up afternoons for interviews in addition to mornings, so their first task is to call every scheduled interview appointment and ask if they want to be moved up. once the deputy's do that, they can schedule new interviews. Great news for everyone

It is great for everyone! I'm pretty stoked, myself! I almost didn't answer the call because I had no idea who it was. Thankfully, I did lol.

Mine took 2 weeks on both my initial CCW and renewal. Timeframe may vary now, but it usually should take them 2-3 weeks to give you a pick up date.

I just picked mine up a couple weeks ago. They have started a whole new process that should help everybody get theirs quicker.

When my friend picked his up over a month ago, his final appointment was himself and one other person. They were doing this all morning long.

When I went in a couple of weeks ago the new process is bringing large groups of people in. When I picked up my permit, there were 30 other people all together in one large room with six employees streamlining the process. All 30 of us were in that room and out of that room with our permits in 30 minutes. When I left, in the lobby there were 30 more people.

If they continue this process it should help a lot.
