Hi Basket,Hi CohibaSyle
I have some questions:
1. When you perform the Live Scan where do you tell them to route the results?
-Can you just tell them to route the results to you?
-Or do you need to tell them to route it to OCSD?
-If you do have to tell them to route results to OCSD how will OCSD know to save it in my file if a file has yet to be form/started? (initial interview date has not occurred)
2. I also plan to take my CCW training class before my interview.
-Is there an expiration date on when the CCW training class is passed/completed for it to be valid by the time you have your initial interview?
By the way I dont mind taking a chance and paying for all of these cost up front to help cut down on my wait time.
thanks
1. When you take the livescan, you just have to tell them it is for CCW, they know where to route it. Make sure that once you scan your fingerprints, you get the ATI#, thats like a tracking number you can use to check the status. OSCD, needs a copy of the Livescan receipt which as the ATI# on it when you apply.
2. I wouldn't take the CCW class before the interview, Since these can be arranged on relatively fast notice, you can get it done as fast as 2 days or a week. But if you want to learn more about CCW, go on some youtube videos, and take some handgun safety courses at your local range.
3. Range test, for me, it was both hands, although I have been practicing at the range with dom and non dom hands. If you do a couple hundred rounds with your non dom hand, you will be perfectly fine, since you are hitting a man sized target at ~5 yards. I was able to hit all my shots within a 10 inch patch with ease, and you would have to be really bad at shooting if you can't land 100% of your shots on the body target. If you can't do that with your dom or non-don hand, you shouldn't be carrying a gun!
good luck!Comment

Thank you. This site has been so informative!Hi Basket,

The OCSD CCW website changed about a week ago, in case you didn't notice. The appointment tab is different and appears to use an outside service to make the appointment (I didn't look too carefully.) There's also a couple of other minor changes to the tabs on the left.
One thing that may be new is that they as part of the terms of the license is that they want an immediate notification if you use your permit/gun. If it's after hours you are to leave a message. That may have be new or may have been there for a while, but it wasn't when I initially got my permit or latest renewal, so it's new to me.

Can someone with access to 2 licenses (i.e. husband/wife) confirm what the "Local Agency" number reads on their licenses? My license Local Agency is one number different than my wifes and I'm curious to know if this is an error as I would think that the only number on the license that would be different would be the CII number. We're doing an address change and when we first picked up our licenses, I had to do 2 trips back to OCSD to correct 2 other issues on mine so I want to be sure. Thanks.Last edited by tsayyote; 01-21-2017, 1:11 AM.Comment

3 weeks for me. Read my post in the above thread. If you've been asked for training you're pretty much on the home stretch. At the final interview, no questions regarding GC are asked. Just sing some papers and hand over the cheque, pickup license.Comment

They also want to know right away if you move. And you MAY NOT carry an alternate firearm from what is on your permit.1911 ShooterComment

The "immediate" notification wasn't there when I got mine.
Them wanting to know when you move and not carrying a gun not on your permit certainly aren't new (and I didn't imply they were.) Those two are part of the penal code and have been for a long time.Sent from Free AmericaComment

The local agency number will be different for each permit issued. Can someone with access to 2 licenses (i.e. husband/wife) confirm what the "Local Agency" number reads on their licenses?
