@Browneye, @Dyambao1
Thanks for the good advice. I just got confused because I'm seeing people saying self defense isn't good enough on its own, but then all the examples I see are basically just self defense. Beyond being personalized, I thought there was a bit more cause needed.Comment

Thanks, I'm excited to finally get this process underway, I've been putting it off for far too long.
Assuming I get conditional approval tomorrow, is there a general consensus for this forum's favorite training venues or trainers? I'm very close to On Target which has a single Saturday course (only 7 hours but somehow gets OCSD credit for a full 16 hour course?). I have also heard good things about Firearms Training Associates in Corona which is 2 consecutive days, Sat-Sun for a total of 16 hours. Not too worried about cost, I would rather be well trained.3%Comment

Live MV - Work LF here myself. Just read between the lines of what people are telling you, add your version of that and you ARE good to go. People have answered your questions.sigpicComment

Not that it makes a difference and I'm sure it varies, but generally how large of a class size is FTA? Are we talking a group of 10 or 50 to be expected? I would rather have a smaller group as I feel it would be more personal and info would probably be retained better...3%Comment

The class size can get up to 40 or so but it is split in half on the range so you get a lot of time with instructors.

You will not get conditional approval when you go to the initial interview, you will get interviewed and the interviewing officer will go over your GCS and application and will probably tell you whether to proceed with your background investigation and live scan or not. You will not get an official conditional approval email until you have successfully met all the requirements and your application has been reviewed by the appropriate CCW officer in charge of that department.
Thanks for clarifying!
