Twinsies! Except for the elderly thing. Fingers crossed for both of us.

From my understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong, once your livescan passes you should be good to go? That'll be great news given your light green GC!

I used ammo I loaded myself at firing line in Burbank. No one checks your ammo. I did see some training places only allowed factory ammo but firing line does not care.

Good to know. Thanks. Firing line was one of my favorites before I moved out of the area.

I don't think they will care. I don't think there's any policy at all about what type of ammo you qualify with or carry, however the standard recommendation is to only carry factory new high quality ammo, for many good reasons.

Don't be so negative about your chance of getting a CCW. Sheriff AV is issuing. Make a strong application and go for it.

At the bigger level, SCOTUS has granted cert to a carry case from NYC, and it's more than likely they will rule that "may issue" systems that exclude most people violate the 2A. Don't fall into "battered gun owner syndrome". Apply.

FWIW for carry ammo I would suggest finding out what ammo is used/approved by LASD and/or CHP for your caliber. After a normal break in with ball ammo (and cleaning), test a few hundred each in your gun and carry what functions reliably, is accurate and you like.

For permit qualification use whatever you like unless LASD or trainer specifies otherwise.

                              Mailed Yesterday

                              I mailed my application yesterday.

GC returning to in in-office work, and late nights, in a high crime area, and carrying expensive equipment to and from. Additionally solo camping and overlanding in remote areas with many upgrades, plus camera and computer equipment.

I will update if it goes anywhere.

The best bet is to carry the same ammo as LASD, LAPD, or your local PDs carrying.
