FWIW for carry ammo I would suggest finding out what ammo is used/approved by LASD and/or CHP for your caliber. After a normal break in with ball ammo, test a few hundred each in your gun and carry what functions reliably, is accurate and you like.

For permit qualification use whatever you like unless LASD or trainer specifies otherwise.

I have gotten confirmation from an hourly deputy that LASD uses Winchester Rangers. Now just to find some.

Yeah that's super strange. You mentioned earlier you dropped it off. Maybe shoot an email over the CCW email and see if they received it? Though I highly doubt they would search through you stack of 1,000 plus to find your one app?

Maybe submit another one.

So strange, I wonder though if cashing Of a check correlates to when you get a call? Or do they randomly cash checks and they go in order of when they received the app to make the calls

As others have stated a cashed check doesn’t equate to getting a call. Some people have had their checks cashed before getting a call and others like myself got a call first and my check cashed a few days after the interview.

My student called a station to drop his app off, and they told him to drop it off directly to Hall of Justice, so he did on April 9. He got a call and scheduled for an interview for this Thursday.

So it seems if you drop it off directly to the CCW unit at Hall of Justice, it is far faster than dropping it off at another station, where folks tell me the inter-department mail can take some time.

That's awesome! I, unfortunately, dropped it off at my local sheriffs station. April 8th, still no call or denial letter.
