...the Buntline will be a great companion to my pair of 20 and 24" Marlin 1894 Cowboys that are also in 45 Colt.

...I'll round them all up in the stable sometime soon and shoot off a photo. The Buntline shoots great and I'm VERY happy with everything about it, and it shoots the same plinking load I shoot in the 24" 1894 excellently, so no need to even work a new load. I'm gonna have fun with this new bunch.

Sounds like a great time. I'm a little envious of that there firearms/ballistics combo. Seems I don't have many plinkers other than .22 so I need to load some more target loads (like 6.0 Bullseye or Titegroup under a 205 grain molycoated in .44 Magnum brass... "Heavy" .44 Special (255 grain Keith LSWC over 7.7 grains Unique) is fun to shoot, yes, but it ain't necessarily fer th' plinkin'.

I'm just halfway through Mr. Towsley's piece and I must say he flat nails it so far. He presents the facts as I have come to know them. Looking back on my personal quest to acquire various Marlin I am surprised to own the models I do and I appreciate them very much.

We all had a hunch that Ruger would do Marlin proud. This story only bolsters it. Nice, too, to get a little Marlin history.

It's a really great read. I'm going to finish it after I whip up some grub to enjoy the rest of it with. Thanks very much for posting this, g-man! and I'd like to wish a Happy Easter with all that that may mean to my fellow Mojave Lever Crew. All of you.

I remember as a kid a bucket full of Liberator pistols in my grandmother's basement. I recall the story of her brother bringing them back from some warehouse after the war. Neat stuff.
