Similar to Kerplow, I picked up one of those fancy Winchester 1873s. Haven't shot it yet, hopefully it doesn't have the issues he did. Sure is nice looking though...

Oh my! I'm not a big fan of the 73 but that one is definitely turning my head....

        Beautiful furniture
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

KS, you've made quite an entrance!

Holy Toledo, Ohio! That's a gorgeous carbine.

Looks gorgeous. I’ve since read that short stroked actions tend to be pickier with ammo length. I’m thinking my issues will be easily fixed with the right ammo choice.

Anyone know what the differences are between a Marlin 1893 & 1936, other than the pistol grip on the ‘36?

Hey LindenBruce, what kind and length 44 mag lever gun are ya thinking of wanting? I've been thinking I oughta sell my pre-safety Marlin in 44mag, since I don't have any other 44s. That or buy a 44 wheelgun, since I have a bunch of ammo, brass, and bullets and a 444 Marlin to go with it. Not entirely sure what I'll do yet...

I'm sure that whatever you decide will work out fine. But, if it were me, I would keep the lever action and buy a revolver in .44 magnum. Taylor's & Co. has the Cattleman single action revolver in .44 magnum for around $600. It looks like an 1873 replica except for the non-fluted cylinder.

Just looked at that Taylor's. That's a damn good looking 1873! They seem to be out of stock. Fine looking gun tho.

I really like this one. It's not Taylor's tuned but works for me. I saw another one last week that was nicer then this one. The CCH was awesome...

I just traded away my new Rossi 92 in 44mag, 200+ new Starline brass, RCBS dies and 650+ projectiles, the whole package. I should have got a 45LC. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought the 44mag.

Oh man, I HAVE to stop looking at these S/A .45's! This is becoming addictive.
Better turn my attention to S/A .357. Yep, that's the answer.

That's a nice one isn't it? The price is good too. I've even seen them for $455.00 and change.
I just wish I could find one with a 5.5" barrel.

Well, I'm partial to the Winchester 1892 with a 24" barrel. BUT, I like the Marlins as well. Since I already have a Marlin 336C in 30-30. Which I have had since the mid 80's. What is your rifle Sir? B.

Those 1873's are BEAUTIFUL!!! Outdoor Sportsman in Stockton has two them right now. Both in .45 Colt. One with a smooth stock and one with a checkered stock. 1300 bucks each. I thought long and hard about it. But I don't have any .45 Colt ammo. And with the scarcity of ammo these last two years, I really don't want to buy something I may not be able to get ammo for.

I already have a tack driver I can't shoot because I can't get ammo for it. Bought that rifle just over a year ago and she sits in the safe still waiting. B.
