I had no idea the answer. Obviously they can't be currently doing drugs and applying for a CCW.

    Just curious.

    Thanks
Answer truthfully. They will not disqualify you for having smoked pot at a highschool party some 15-20 years ago. Yes they will ask you about it since you answered yes, but they will respect you for being completely honest...

Thanks everyone! A friend is a little relieved and feeling good going into his interview. What all of you said was what I was thinking. Even those applying to be peace officers have to disclose everything.

I thought all CCW's expire on the 15th of what ever month they were issued.
At least everyone that I know has a 15th of the month date.

WOW first one I have 'seen' in 25+ years.
The dozen or so 'real life friends' that have them are all the 15th.

Yep, my renewal is coming up. Gotta drop by the sheriffs office next month and hand in my paperwork.

If it's really an issue, I wonder if you could make an argument to leave the RDS off and just use the back up irons? I too would like to know if anyone has successfully qualified with an RDS. Any suggestions on how to proceed moving forward?

Me. And no... no advice. I know I was a nervous wreck at qual because I just didn't know what was going to happen. After I passed the initial check I remained nervous. Got to the firing line and I had quite the different experience from digital: After shooting my first gun my RO saw my RDS gun in my case and asked me which one I was shooting next and I told him the one with the red dot. He asked if he could see it. Picked it up and checked it all out (not in an "I'm going to DQ you way but in a real gun person admiring someone's gun way.) Said he was jealous. Then another RO came over and told me to shoot at the head (still clean at that point as we were still shooting the body) so he could see how accurate it was. Talk about NERVOUS! lol! (I even took a picture of the target afterwards before shooting my final gun to show hubby haha!)

I really, really don't like the inconsistencies.

I really didn't know what was going to happen before going since there was no tried and true answer on the subject. I had planned to ask to shoot with the dot OFF if they gave me issues (seems like the one lone deputy that doesn't like them would have said no, though.)

Red dots are the way of the future!

Do you how long are you there at the sheriff's office?

If so, you should plan on about an hour and a half. I was out in about 50 minutes but I had planned on an hour and a half.

                              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Mine expires 16 days after my birthday to allow me time to recuperate.

Which just happens to be the 15th

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.
