Glad to hear it... Quite a few CCW holders up here on the mountain by the way.

Oh yeah! And that's the way it should be everywhere.

I think the local range starts back up next month. I've actually never shot there, I've been a member of Apple Valley Gun Club for 12 years and just recently moved up here full time into my vacation house.

I've been there a few times but usually do all of my shooting/testing at the Lions Club in Lucerne. I have 4 rifles that need load development so I'll be hitting the range a lot.

You picked a good year to move up here. The lake is going to get fairly full with the snow pack we have.

I've co-owned the place since 2003 and exclusively since 2011 when I bought my sisters out... but I've lived full time in BB during the 90's as well, in fact I was right here in this place when the 1992 quakes hit . Yes, nice to see the lake come up some! I've always said that if I have to live in SoCal, there is no place else I'd rather be.

I've never shot at the Lucerne range either Matt.

            That's awesome you're not a flatlander! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!

We gotta hook up and hit the LC some Saturday. I think I'll actually be heading down there this coming weekend to start testing a 7mm Mag.

                Renewal Timeline:

                Permit expires 4/15/2019

Turn in paperwork on 1/18/2019. Inform Sarah that I'd like to make a firearm change. She ask which one I'm taking off and makes note of it. Gives me range card and date for range.

First date for range is 2/2 and it's been raining all week. I call and ask about the range for Saturday and I'm told if it's raining they will not have the range open for qualifying. I was also told that the next Saturday range session would be 3/2.

Second opportunity to go to the range is coming up and it's raining again. So I don't go to the range.

Renewal class is set for 3/12. Go to class and at the class we're told that if we plan on making firearms changes that we need to do it as close to the 90 days before our permit expires as it takes them a while to get that information processed.

I decide not to make changes based on what I heard in class and read on this thread. I had spoken to Sarah at the class and she asked me to send her an email letting her know that I didn't want to make any changes to my permit. I did so when I got home that night.

The next morning Sarah responded to my email and asked if I still wanted to drop the gun I had told her about when I submitted my paperwork. I told her no to please keep it on the permit.

I get home yesterday 3/25 from work and get the mail. There's a letter from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's department. I open it up and it's my new permit valid from 4/16/2019 to 4/15/2021. I look at the back of the card and only two of my guns are listed.

I go to the same email that i had going with Sarah and let her know that the 3rd gun was missing and asked if thee was a way to get it back on my permit?

She responded this morning apologizing for it not being listed. She said that she would put it back on and reprint my permit. She told me that I would need to bring in my permit and swap it out for the new one.

I got off early today from work so i went out to San Bernardino and swapped out my permit. I'm now good to go for another two years.

***Before you reply saying that there's another way into the range and they had qualifying in the rain. I KNOW THAT. I wsn't going out there in the rain.***
                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Did you talk with Sarah in the lobby after class?

Yes I did. I was hoping to just give her my info in the lobby but she asked for the email. Probably better because I had an email track of our conversation.

Was there an older, short brunette standing next to her?
She had umteen people wanting to give her info.
Emails were best so she had a paper trail also!

Was talking to somebody and they had asked about the question on the Background Interview form where it asks "have you ever smoked, sold, grown given marijuana to anyone?"

They said they smoked it 20+ years ago, what's the impact on answering the question truthfully?

I had no idea the answer. Obviously they can't be currently doing drugs and applying for a CCW.

                          Just curious.

                          Thanks

To be a CCW holder, you need to be of good moral character. I think in their eyes, drug users typically do not fall in that category.

They have good moral character now, but made a mistake 20+ years ago.

FWIW, I answered "yes" to that question, there was no point in lying since I had a possession charge back in the late 80's. They don't care about stuff that old as it's not disqualifying, but if the answer is yes the just want to know the details. I would imagine if my charge was only a year or two old then I would have had some issues. I'm pretty sure five years or more and it's in the clear.

Utah was the same way, their application was VERY strictly worded as far as any drug/booze offenses so before I even applied I called and talked to the rep and she and I had a pretty good chuckle when I told here the last charge was 1989. She told me she was 26 years old and it would be fine.
