There are two (2) "Next" Buttons, and they will screw you up because they do different things.

Use the "Next" button AT THE TOP OF THE CALENDAR to go forward to Dec and you can see the Green Dates.
Click on the Green date; it'll turn Yellow(that says, "Yellow")
Use the "Next" button AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE to go to the display of appointments for that date.
    Select one.
    Get your Confirmation
    Print it.

Congratulations! Keep an eye open for cancellations. You may catch an earlier appointment.

I can finally add some info to this topic...

              Appointment made: 6/22/16
              Initial interview: 9/20/16
              SSD approval: 10/21/16

The only bummer right now it that it's Friday afternoon. I'll have to go for LiveScan on Monday morning.

Actually you can do it today , they have a sheriff office in Carmichael that can do it today.
Call them and ask them and they will tell you where.

Just completed my renewal last week.

Started looking for appointments 60 days before expiration. Had my training done 6 weeks before expiration. Was able to get first appointment 5 weeks after expiration.

The folks at the gun unit could not have been kinder or more helpful/professional. My impression is/was that there are about half the staff working there than there used to be.

One gal told me she'd been with the unit 13 years - I said - you musta been awful bored the first 10 years or so...

We talked about the budget cuts - they all seemed onboard with the idea of showing crime stats - potential correlation to decreased crime to increased CCW.

Other than getting the appointment being a PITA, as I said the folks there could not have been better to work with. I made sure I had an organized file - proof of residency, application filled out as directed, money orders, training documentation. Made the whole process at the window quick and painless. The folks even made a point of shaking my hand and congratulating me on my way out.

Renewal available on the website: Oct 27, 11:15.

                      Also, this just posted;
Appointments have been filled for the remainder of the year, but you may continue to check in case there are any cancellations. Additionally, we are in the process of upgrading our computer system to more efficiently handle appointments and renewals. We will provide additional details as we have them about the new appointment system. We hope to have the new appointment system up and running in January of 2017. We will temporarily be extending our renewal window to allow CCW holders with a renewal date between October 18, 2016 and February 28, 2017 to renew beyond the 60 day window.

Nope. Being honest is best policy. I told them I dabbled in high school for a couple years and I still got my initial approval.

Do you guys schedule the issuance appointment once you received your conditional approval?

Is it better to go in the morning or noon for live scan?

Live Scan on Howe Avenue is packed all afternoon and evening. Sometimes if it is too full, they will tell people to reschedule. Morning is best that way you have ample time to wait.
