Just went in today for my initial. Hope I'm in that group too!

I looked back at previous posts, and it looks like people have received their emails on Mondays (presumably, the Monday after the Thursday committee meeting).

Considering that this Monday is a holiday, I'd look for the email on Tuesday or Wednesday.

(FWIW, previous posts have also said that the committee meets every other Thursday, not once a month as I was told.)

FWIW, one of the recent posters here, Noobie Gunner, indicated he interviewed 12/3 and did not received approval notice until 1/31. That would be approx 8 weeks.

I interviewed 1/14 and have not received notice either way though its been 4 weeks. The officer indicated (as noted by others) that they are seriously back logged, digging out from the holidays. Could have sworn he also said they meet every 2 weeks. From this I infer its currently running > 30 days.

Put on top of this the references to a 'computer glitch' that had them turning folks away in later January, 6-10 weeks is a more reasonable expectation.

Just to add to the confusion, I interviewed Jan 22 and received my approval email Jan 31. I think it just depends on how lucky you are with your interview day being close to their "meeting" day.

My hope is that Noobie Gunner was just very unlucky.

Assuming the committee does meet every two weeks...The 12/4 meeting probably would have been too soon after his interview. The 12/18 meeting may have been cancelled for the holidays. The 1/1 meeting fell on a holiday. A previous post said that the 1/15 meeting was cancelled. 1/29 was held, and then Noobie and Sacguns were approved on 1/31.

This is me being an optimist. I'm really hoping it's not going to be 8 weeks.

Its interesting to get sacguns data point. I did have to email a second proof of address, but confirmed receipt the next day via phone call so I should have been in that group. Its possible based on your app you may get more scrutiny.

I did have a recent traffic ticket, possible they requested the notes from the back of the ticket. also scheduled my appt just 2 days prior to going in, so if they pull an initial background it may not have got there.

Sacguns, if you dont mind my asking, was your app squeeky clean? And how far ahead of your appt day did you schedule?

I was considering adding this info to my original post, but yes my app is very clean. I don't remember the exact date I scheduled, but I know that because of my personal schedule I wasn't able to take the first several open dates. (It was a few weeks beforehand.) I hope that helps.

I just read your post more closely. That's odd that you interviewed before me but have not yet been notified.

Edit: One thing those waiting should know is that when/if you are approved, I would definitely recommend doing the livescan at the office on 65th St. vs the one in Rancho. I was turned away at the Rancho office because they were too busy, but was able to walk right into the office on 65th with no wait. Also, don't go around lunch time to either office because the scanner will take a lunch.

Thanks for adding the info, its helpful. the Officer offered that it should go thru and didnt even ask about the ticket, but you never know. I will give them a ring to see. I am sure they will love me that much more for it!

Also appreciate the tip on the Livescan. I am sure with CCW activity being ramping up its crazy. I had to Livescan for my C&R + COE last year. I was lucky when I went to Rancho and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Good to know there is another along my regular commute.

Notification is by email, or physical mail? I thought it was email, but I saw some people talking about receiving a letter in the mail.

I realized that the application doesn't ask for an email, and I don't recall them asking me for it at my initial appointment. Do they link the email you provided through the appointment system with your application?

Right. I mentioned that in my post. I just didn't know if they linked data collected in the appointment system to the application file.

Yup. And I suspect it's linked to a whole lot of other stuff, too.

Ha. I have little faith in bureaucracy, but maybe it works well when it comes to authorizing people to carry concealed weapons...
