Just let her know not to be surprised when they come back and ask for a written good cause statement.

I strongly doubt any gender bias at OCSD.

I've been browsing these threads for months now since the en banc review and have yet to find a GCS denied. It would be interesting to hear from any that didn't get approved.

Mine took 3 months and no issues. Substantial good cause statement provided, although at the time my interview got scheduled I didn't think I had anything at all to go on. Calguns members were very helpful.

They haven't. They approved her on "self defense."

She just has to turn in her training certificate and schedule a pick up.

That's pretty cool. And good to hear as well.

Greg Block. CCW instructor. I just completed his class this week. Very knowlegable. Here is his website.

More evidence OC has liberalized issuance again, but with this example it sounds like in June they were just short of accepting a mere statement of "self-defense" as sufficient GC.

Honestly, I don't even know how I'd be able to access my old Craigslist ads as they auto delete after like a month. All I'd be able to show is dead links in emails.

When I asked about good cause, the deputy more-or-less told me they're accepting anything beyond just writing "self defense." I was told they've processed hundreds of applications in the last few months and he's only seen maybe 4 denials and that was because the people lied about prior arrests. The deputy also said that lots of people are cancelling their appointments because they don't think they can come up with a good cause, but they really should be going to the appointments because they're likely to pass with whatever good cause they can come up with.

In my opinion the best advice I would give for your good cause is to keep it simple and think about the situations you'll encounter in life where you think, "I should go grab my pistol before we go out and do this thing." For me, that means going on bike rides after dark, going on hikes and camping trips (in areas where it's legal to do so), and when I'm buying or selling something on Craigslist.

This was posted on Aug 01, so late July was when SD = GC

Maybe OC liberalized to GC = SD after Krusty, or maybe NQ's fiancee was an anomaly. We'll just have to wait and see what future applicants post. Either way, OC does NOT appear to be "restrictive" re. CCWs: they're solidly "light green" and maybe transitioning back to "dark green."

what will really be interesting is when those who have had their permits on the SD cause before GC was required. renewal time should start for many of us next year. I will out of state for 2016 when mine expires.

Renewal GCS should be "OCSD is one of the only So Cal liberty agencies - residents thank you".

I realize it won't fit the "legal" agenda... But I plan to at least verbally state it when I renew.

I'm hoping to be... But I'm pressed for time on my career plan to make it happen... I'm hoping my employer values the ideas I have - but so much is happening locally that it's taking time away from my implementation.

Can anyone share what their residence check was like? What the deputy's were looking at or for?

They just want to make sure you actually live where you say you do. If you are not home when they come to your house they will ask neighbors and they will have your picture. Its the simplest part of the process.

I just had mine. A younger deputy came over on Sunday morning, 9:30ish and knocked on the door. Asked for me, and didn't come inside just asked me how long I had lived there and I told him, he said that was all he needed and have a nice day and left. He was wearing the polo that you see investigators wear during the interview, I didn't catch what he was driving but he wasn't just a deputy who was on patrol from what it looked like. Was very simple, and I was basically right out the door a few minutes after him and he was gone, so he didn't go talk to neighbors that I am aware of. That's my experience.
