I have my conditional approval. Sounds like I should get approved pretty quick after training. Is there a second interview?

After you get your training done scan your training certificate and email it to OCSD CCW unit. Follow up by calling them to make sure they received it and add it to your file. Within a few days you should receive another email with your pick up date. There is no second interview. Its just a pick up date and nothing more. At pick up you will need to bring three things...

1. Your id.
2. Original training certificate that you emailed in to them.
3. A check or money order for $102.22 made out to OCSD. They do not take cash or credit cards. I chose to buy a money order as I was told that they hold them and make sporadic deposits and I did not want to have a personal check out for who knows how long? Money order is best IMO!

The class is not that difficult. Qualification not difficult either. If you fail the class you have no business carrying anyway!

so I had my live scan yesterday. the machine would not get all my fingers to go to green, a few were left yellow and two were left red, no matter how many times I tried. the operator claimed that a lot of people have 'bad prints' and that I should be fine. Has anyone else had this experience? or gotten approved after not having every finger 'take'? the place claimed this was common, I'm wondering if their machine was bad and now I'm wasting my time waiting 1-3 months for the results?

Don't worry about it, if it's insufficient they'll tell you. Likely it's just fine.

I experienced the same livescan issue. No problems with the application though. I wouldn't worry.

My wife did Livescan, and after a couple months the FBI rejected the prints. She did it again, and the FBI rejected those. So the OCSD deputy requested they do a manual check, and then everything worked out. It's not rare for this to happen.

Just received notice to come pick up license. Took about 30 days from conditional approval and turning in 16 hr. Training certificate.

Congrats to those of you who were given approval notices. I am waiting on a response from the department on my application. I did livescan right after the interview and it's been about a month. I called the hotline for livescan and it said my California response and FBI response had been electronically sent to OCSD a little over a week ago. So, does this mean that I should be hearing something soon ?

No, you need to wait for the DOJ, which is done by hand. It takes 90-120 days from live scan for that to be done as it is done by hand. Meantime, go get your training done!

I waited to do my ccw training until I received my conditional approval. OCSD called me two weeks later and asked about my training certificate as I didn't see the email. They asked me to get it done within 30 days. Did my training over the weekend, turned my cert in and that day they set the appointment up for me to come in and pick it up.

I guess I articulated my good cause statement well. I just got a phone call from the OC Sheriff's Department stating all they need is my training certificate.

Just so you know, I had a couple specific reasons; for example being mugged. I didn't have the case number and it was a long time ago so I didn't think it would pass, but apparently it did.
