I am an avid hunter but mostly out of California, traveling to Arizona most of the time.
I travel to remote area with my family and travel with guns for hunting and to protect my family in those remote areas.
You don't need a CCW to transport sporting weapons. A need to protect yourself in hunting areas predominately out-of-state doesn't seem persuasive.

"Important company information which is important to company," could probably use some work.

      Best.

Posting your GC on a public forum is not the smartest thing to do. PM someone who is willing to help you but don't post it for the entire world (including OCSD!) to see. Use some common sense!

Also not the brightest thing to post on a public forum. Especially one on obtaining a CCW!

She wasn't trying to discourage you. That's just how they operate now. They are still issuing, they've just moved the goal post.
If you use the "work" reason as your good cause statement, will they put restriction as to where and when you can conceal carry?

I guess. I just don't see it being a good idea to ask my new boss for a letter saying it's a good idea to carry. I mean I could get emails showing it was requested for me to be working late or whatever but getting the receipts for equipment and/or writing a letter to the police doesn't seem smart to me. In CA that's probably good reason to fire someone.

Then you'll need to tighten up you GC so it stands on its own merits without mentioning work.

Guess so since we know protecting ourselves isn't valid

Looking at these time lines I think I should re request an interview. I requested one on 3/2/15 and got an email back for 10/2015

                      FYI this is my timeline.

                      02/27/15 request interview
03/01/15 receive e-mail setting interview date
                      10/06/15 original interview date
                      07/01/15 receive e-mail advancing interview
                      08/24/05 new interview date

My interview is coming up at the end of August but I may cancel due to the sheriff's policy of requiring applicants to complete section 7. If you don't know, were the sheriff not to require it to be completed by you, but have the interviewer complete it during the interview, that information would be kept in confidence. However, if completed by the applicant it is open to public discovery via the state's version of the freedom of information act.

Anyway, I have a pretty sad juvenile history that I don't intend to open up to public. It was sealed nearly 50 years ago, and since then I have led a pretty good life and I do not see any point in completing the application unless we receive a surprisingly favorable enbanc ruling.

If the record is sealed do you need to disclose it? Just leave that part blank and be honest about it during the interview. Tell the investigator your concern and then make a decision to proceed or not.

FWIW, they told me if they get any FIA requests they redact everything except your name and what gun is on your permit.

Thanks. I may do that. I will be open and honest with the investigator, but am not about to have ancient history opened up to the public.

they told me vebally and in a written letter that I needed good cause other than just 'self defense', and suggested in writing that I withdraw from the process (I was half way through the process when Peruta was withdrawn) if I didnt have additional good cause. Are you saying that you had no specific justification for "personal protection" other than the words "self defense"?

Sadly this makes sense based on timing... OCSD said all those using self defense as GC that were approved for training before Pureta went en banc would continue on. Those in process, but not yet approved, would need add'l GC reasons.
