No. Just fill out the form, do the interview, pay the bill, do the training, turn in training certificate, pick up license.

OK, So I already had then visit my house, completed the application paperwork, got approval to go for live scan, and completed the live scan...am I in a position where mine would be in queue for approval, or with the new stance on Peruta, would I be declined?

I don't want to sign up for a course if it's futile at this point.

If you don't want to spend the money . Wait until they tell you to do the training. That's what I did. Emails my training certificate the next day after completion. They confirmed receipt. Four hours later received appointment to pick up permit. About 3-4 week wait from time I turned certificate in to pick up.

If you have no reason of being denied then I say go take your training and email it to them. This way you may be processed faster, but it's not guaranteed. There has been no evidence of anyone being denied, so you should be GTG.

OR

You can play it safe and wait for your conditional approval letter then take your training. I played it safe, but I've seen many people do their training before their conditional approval.

They stopped asking for references a few(ish) years ago.

We'll vouch for your character.

I think the character reference thing just got too subjective. Likely doesn't mean jack. Unless there's a big glaring problem (complaints or arrests, restraining orders, etc.) and you're legal to carry, you get a permit. At least that's the way I see it.

OC issue

Saw the post by Paladin requesting info on recently issued CCWs for Orange County and GC statements.
Started the process in June and picked up CCW last week.
Got some assistance from Calgunners on my GC statement. Described the criminal restraining order in place against my immediate neighbor - also described concern re walking trails near my home in the early morning/late evening. OCSD did not ask me to clarify anything at either meeting. Just accepted the materials at the first interview and issued at the second.
Pretty simple process overall.

I usually go hiking late at night with my 3 huskies by the dark canyons near my home and have had several break ins next door to my house and 2 active police pursuits through my back yard you guys think that's enough good cause? I tried looking for approved good cause statements but the links broken. I just don't really wanna spend much money if I'm going to get outright denied.

No money will be spent if you get denied, just time. Orange County is issuing and there hasn't been any evidence of anyone being denied. Most people are saying anything other than "self defense" as your good cause will cut it. So we don't know what the actual cut off line is and you won't either unless you try.
