My LiveScan took 19+ weeks. Did it May 10. Inquired this week and was told it finally came in last week.

FYI the DOJ # isn't up to date; I'm still pending according to it. Just burn that ph#. It's false hope.

        Good luck.

You faxed your training cert. 10 days before me so hopefully that means I'll get an email with my pickup date within the next week.

          Congrats!

where did you go the first time you carried?

When I taught my BIL how to ride a motorcycle, I remembered the route my father took us on which contained traffic circles and stop signs on steep hills.

His idea was to force us to encounter various obstacles and confusing circumstances which we might run across when he wasn't around.

I think this is not a bad idea for newbie CCWer's as well.

Doing a little driving (your holster will feel very different from walking around), followed by some shopping and other errands.

Chose activities which entail getting in and out of you car, bending and reaching while shopping or loading/unloading your trunk.

Bring you car safe (or buy one) so you can put your piece away temporarily in true no gun places like the post office.

The idea is to teach yourself how reach with you weak side and how to move in such a way as to keep you rig hidden.

While the average citizen is not staring at you, it may feel like it as you scan their faces.

Don't touch or fondle your piece, just keep your cover garment bloused over it and you will be fine.

As summer turns to fall, concealment is much easier if your not trying to hide a 1911 or a Glock 17 under a tank top...

Glocknroll -- thanks for that fantastic advice. That's exact my game plan.

Question: my non-work attire is cargo shorts and sandles. Sweatshirts in the cooler months and tees in warmer. If I IWB with a compact (Shield) are dark, busy button down shirts the solution for summer? Will sweatshirts be ideal for the other months? What do you and others do?

                      Thanks

I bought dark printed button down shirts from target and a couple of Polo shirts.

Undershirt/tee? Do some people tuck for comfort? Because it seems like a tee between the holster and button down would help tremendously with printing.

                          Any/all opinions appreciated.

I don't personally wear an undershirt and I don't tuck. For me, wearing an undershirt over my holster/gun was a harder draw since I'd have to grab both shirts and make sure they're clear.

I wear everything from tank tops to button downs as cover garments for carry.

Believe it or not even an oversized tank, without large flapping arm holes, can work for hot weather carry, but lighter colors tend to print worse.

Larger t-shirts, polo's and button down short sleeve shirts can all work if sized correctly.

I tend to wear darker and/or patterned shirts to break up any outlines.

Some people wear these open over a tank for greater concealment, but unless the holster is OWB you may find grip access more cumbersome.

I live in cargo shorts for two reason, because I can

and because they often have some elasticity in the waistband.

you can insert and remove your holster easily from cargo shorts and readjust your belt as needed.

I'm curious...How much of a concern is accidental printing or display? I've read people are oblivious. And prevention should be a priority, of course. But reaching or bending over seem like the easiest way to accidentally expose a grip or get a shirt hung up.

If sighted by a fellow citizen in a store or restaurant, is it a reportable incident only if contacted by store security or police? IOW, no harm no foul? Just leave? How do you think people interpret OCSD's language:

License holder shall not unnecessarily display or expose the concealed weapon.

Should the license holder display or utilize the concealed weapon for which the license has been issued, the license holder shall notify the Commander of PSB within five days. This notice shall be in writing, and shall include the circumstances resulting in the use of the weapon.
