People are really listing out the jewelry that they wear in their Good Cause statement? Why not include the fact that you drive a car that is worth over $15k? Or even a $800 Iphone? $150 pair of Nike Flyknit Racers?
Does this actually work? If it does, I don't understand how any GC statement aside from "shootin da bad guys" can be rejected.
This wont work! You need to prove good cause Just because you own fancy jewelry wont help. Noone is casing your wife over a 1500.00 dollar ring

Howdy, all. Is there a good place to found out an estimate of the number of permits OCSD has issued thus far?

It was posted in a thread a while back. You'll need to search or if you just called them they'd likely tell you.

As of Dec. 31, 2014, California had 70,593 residents with an active concealed carry permit. OCSD has 3,132.
A catch in state law gives local law enforcement officials complete discretion to interpret California’s primary requirements for anyone wanting to carry a concealed gun. Some counties grant permits to anyone who’s eligible, while others maintain a strict standard.

Good article, had not seen this before.

Notice the number of 'pending permits' for OC - likely the number of 'active' permits doubled last year, or at least substantially increased. I'm betting more than a thousand last year, like maybe a hundred a month or something? Maybe more?

And in SF no one gets a firearm. Quoting the mayor from the article:
“I’d much rather this city work to make people feel safe” than let everyone have a gun, he said. “To me, it’s a civil liberty to be safe. I just don’t think the Second Amendment has to be the reliant factor that upholds that safety.”
What he fails to acknowledge is that the 2A is not for 'upholding safety' it's about upholding a right to bear arms. That point completely escapes him. He treads on the citizen's god given rights with the belief that he his keeping them safe otherwise. How smug can one be?

On another take, I'm surprised anyone would think designer trinkets would make them a 'target for bad guys'. Really? Maybe in Times Square after midnight. I dunno. <shrug>

I recall walking into a shop at South Coast to ask about the nice purse in the window display and the young female clerk, without even a pause in her delivery, said, "Oh yes, that one is fourteen thousand five hundred." I looked at the wife and we both burst out laughing.
Hmmm...wouldn't that make them more of a target? Yet that place is full of stuff like that.

There was a post here a few months ago where someone had called and was told the number was 7000 or so. I'm going from memory, which usually isn't very reliable.

EDIT: I found it. OC had 7333 permits as of November of last year. For sake of discussion, figure that number is probably around 8000 now. https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...php?p=17295197

                    .

Thanks for the replies, guys. Those were the newest figures I could find as well. I guess they haven't put out any newer stats.

OCSD is going strong, they want to issue, and it's not going to slow down anytime soon.

                        Get with the program OC!

Just an update to the numbers listed below: as of February 22, 2016 there are 8,153 active CCW Permits in Orange County and 2,817 applications in process / awaiting determination.

I contacted the Orange County Sheriff's Department to inquire about the number of CCW permits in the county. As of 11/25/2015 there are 7,333 active CCW licenses and 2,788 CCW applications in process / awaiting determination according to the Support Services Division.

It says that ocsd can't legally tell you to do it before hand, but it's a good idea to do it as it'll help speed up the process. It's a ~110 dollar gamble. If you think you won't have any problems with the interview then I'd do it. This waiting game sucks a big one.

Thanks, it seems like as long as you have some good cause besides sd, and a clear background, they are issuing. I think I'll take that gamble.
