I used a passport instead of a birth certificate. Will be ok. Ask them about the car registration. I don't see why it would be a problem.

      Spot on.

If you know what you are doing, firing line is an inexpensive and entertaining way to check the training box.

If you don't know what you are doing, I'd spend whatever it takes for a small class size/high dollar/hands on/specialized training.

Complete the entire application and sign it.

I learned that 400 to 500 permits were issued last month. Additionally, the Sheriff has revised his policy. So if you are handling large sums of money (i.e. cash rent), then you should apply.

When filling out the application, the application asks what firearms I intend to use. If accepted, I prefer to use a sub compact, which i don't current own any. Is what I list on the application the final list or can it be changed later on if lets say I acquire a sub compact handgun for CCW use?

Every two I believe. Point being, definitely get what you want to carry before submitting the app.

To the large swath of recent interviewees/new licensees, did any of you apply with good cause that is not employment related, but rather daily routine or extracurricular-related risks?

You must list up to 3 guns you currently own and that are registered to your name. If you plan on carrying a specific model, you should purchase it now. Once you are issued your CCW you cannot make any amendments until the 2 year renewal period. I originally applied with 2 handguns listed but during my background investigation I was able to PPT a Ruger LCR .357 and added it to my CCW before it was issued by calling over the phone.

Got my LA County CCW in December 2020. Took 90 days.

What if we don't handle large sums of money?

I don't own a business, I don't live out in the boondocks where it takes two hours for the police to arrive. I'd just like to be able to protect myself if some ******* runs up at a stop light and starts yelling something while pointing a gun at me through a window. Since there was no one in front of me I was able to just floor it while ducking, but next time I may not be able to flee.

Any chance for us normal people?

Good luck purchasing a gun now. My options were 1) pay $700 for a S&W Shield (a $350 gun at best), 2) buy nothing, or 3) buy off a friend.

Luckily I have friends. lol I also bought 50rns hollowpoints off a friend for $50. Strange times.
