No. Don't worry about that witness or badge number. Just complete the whole application and sign all sections that require a signiture.

I would encourage many of you asking about the application to read the CCW section on the LASD website as they do change the directions from time to time.

Will it be the same DOJ application posted on LASD site that will be needed to apply with my local PD?
My local PD was not helpful at all when I called to inquire. They just said go to the DOJ site and find it there. Smh.

              Which PD?

There’s a link a page or two back that tells you if you go through PD or LASD.

              Found it:

Got my approval to go ahead with the firing/training. I'm wondering how many of you who've gotten their CCW have taken Paladin's advice and sent a nice card or letter to AV. I'm certainly going to do that.

Im a bit confused... Heard from some sources that city of Los Angeles needs to apply with LAPD first, if denied, apply with LASD.
But, on LASD website, I did not see city of Los Angles as a city that needs to apply with its own pd first.
I am in city of Los Angeles, should I apply with LASD or LAPD first?

                    LAPD first then LASD.

Has anyone here applied to LAPD and not put their SSN? I'm trying to find out their use for it and if it's necessary since SSNs are almost never written on livescan forms or DROS/4473 forms.

The "Request for Live Sacn Service" State of California form BCIA 8016 does require SSN.

Anyone in a city within LAPD jurisdiction will need to apply with them first. I called to ask for my son who lives in Westwood. Santa Monica PD apparently has a MOU with the LASD.

I don't own a business, I don't live out in the boondocks where it takes two hours for the police to arrive. I'd just like to be able to protect myself if some ******* runs up at a stop light and starts yelling something while pointing a gun at me through a window. Since there was no one in front of me I was able to just floor it while ducking, but next time I may not be able to flee.

Any chance for us normal people?
Don't take my response the wrong way. I'm doing this mostly to illustrate a point and how we need to change the paradigm on how we approach this subject. But this sentiment, painting ourselves as normal Joe's who don't have a chance is the exact sentiment that will get you nowhere. Under the current licensing scheme, "normal" is not getting a CCW. Nor would it get you one in Orange or Ventura. If you approach it this way, don't waste your time applying.

Instead, you iterate in your statement something that DOES set you apart from from normal. You imply that someone did, in fact, brandish a firearm at you at some point. Use that!

In my opinion, if you are a gun owner, here in Calguns, perusing a CCW forum, you are not normal! Normal is someone who is content to go about their day without a second thought about personal security, taking no steps to give a thought about how not to be a victim. Unfortunately, that is society's normal. Instead, by you being here, you already know that your circumstances are different. Think good and hard about your everyday life and where you encounter threats in daily activities, or job hazards, or weekend recreation. Everybody has something. And we have seen examples in this forum where the people willing to extrapolate these things in writing are getting approved.

See above. We are not in a position here to give a definitive answer on whether one GC is good enough or something else isn't. You have a great start on a GC statement though. Everybody, be a ZEALOUS advocate for YOURSELF. As I said before, I firmly believe that anyone willing to put in a serious effort will come out successful with LASD.

Anyone know the process for selling a firearm that is on your permit? Will it be removed from your card and new card issued and then you only have two instead of three guns on permit? Is it even possible to sell it? And maybe more importantly, if sold, can it be replaced on your permit with a different firearm that you currently own? (And yes, I know LASD tells you no changes until the 2 year renewal)

I think you answered your own question - as of right now LASD is not processing any changes to the firearms on the permit until the time of renewal. Who knows, they might change this policy at some point, but I think they are more concerned right now with issuing new permits and have plenty on their plate with just that task.

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to sell a gun that is listed on your permit. All the permit says is that if you have a gun on you, it had better be one of three listed. If you sell one, then effectively you only have two options at that point.
