So I just got my denial from the local PD. Now I am going to apply with the sheriffs. Does anyone know if I need to go get another live scan done?

Another Yellow GC was permit a couple of weeks ago.
Both this one and previous mentioned how pleasant the experience was.
This one said there are 2 deputies who do the interviews and both give their work to a Lt who makes the decision. (I assume the Lt passes application packet off to AV for final approval and signature.)

Thanks for this statement. I found it very helpful. No, not if it's for simple self-defense.
Not if it's a weak reason like "I sometimes travel to dangerous areas". Thin reasons like that won't work.
But look at these two hypothetical good cause statements:
- I go hiking to remote areas
Vs:
- I go hiking to remote areas. Here are my trail passes for the past 12 months. I have attended these seminars on wilderness safety; here are the certificates. Here are maps of locations I camped at, and here's the location of the nearest police presence, which as you can see is an hour a way. Here's my membership of [some hiking organization]. Here's my records of trail and park cleanup volunteer activity I did with the park service. Here are my plans for hiking trips I'll be taking next year, showing locations and proximity to law enforcement services. Here are the safety training courses I've signed up for next year. Here are pictures of me at [some camping location] on [some date]. Here are news stories about criminal activity in the areas I have mentioned. Here are the list of prohibited locations (Federal ranger stations etc) in these areas that I know I won't be carrying a gun in while I'm engaged in hiking activities.
Do you see the difference? The good cause IS THE SAME in both cases. But the second example shows DEPTH, planning, organization and responsibility. The first is just, "please give me a permit".
The first good cause statement won't work. The second might work. (Obviously, NEVER re-use any other person's good cause statement, so make it unique and applicable to YOU. My statement there is just for illustration.)
Does this make sense? A lot of people have weak good cause that will not work, but a lot of people could make a much stronger good cause statement with some more thought, documentation and effort.
If all this makes sense to you, then when I say "everyone should apply", it should be taken within the context of what I'm explaining in this post. Please don't argue with me about this; you either understand it or you don't.
Exactly.

Which city is this? That is unusual that they would have you do a LiveScan without first determining whether you cleared the good cause hurdle. Or were you by some chance denied based on what the LiveScan revealed?sigpic

Question regarding the gun I would like to register when applying, I have a Sig p320 originally bought and DROS’d full-size but I bought the sub-compact grip module as well. Since the serial is on the trigger group would it be possible to register it on my ccw as the sub compact?Comment

This was in the city of Glendale. I had very good cause (3 different reasons), dark red/light red. & No I was not denied because of the live scan result. My denial letter said I did not have good cause. (Total BS)Comment

Quick question. When completing the application for LAPD, do we just walk up to the station to complete the application under a witness or do we call for that interview right away?Comment

I live in Beverly hills.. I applied with The bhpd and received my official denial papers. so now I'm going to the county. I'm using my real estate license as my good cause and i also Shoot a lot of Idpa and Uspsa... I have an instagram page dedicated to my competitions... As for real estate, I have not been active in a couple of years.. I just recently signed up with berkshire hathaway as a referral agent.. Any one here have any good advise for when I get an interview? I know because of covid we are not doing any open houses instead we do private showings witch is even more of a risk.. AS a referral agent I'm not as active as a full time agent... Also I don't have business cards. I'lm wondering what they might ask me and what would I tell them. An agent told me to just say I'm an agent. Also should I mention my competition shooting and that I travel around california for my matches.. Would my instagram page be a good idea to share?
I hope I can nip this in the butt and thank you in advance for anyones help.Comment
