    This.

You're not going to get a CCW in LA if you aren't willing to put in time, effort and some $. Not happening. The first time and effort you need to put in is reading and understanding the last 20 pages of this thread.

At some point maybe I'll edit it together into a single coherent guide but until then... I won't repeat myself. Do some reading, applicant!

Yes I have, read the last maybe 30-35 pages of this specific thread as well. I like to study about things before putting a foot forward in anything I put myself into.

Went ahead and followed the continued advice of multiple users on this thread as well as you, and Paladin. I probably even read more than I needed to, to be honest! haha. I'm currently a student and instructor and know how detrimental it can be if you don't do some research beforehand.

Great! I apologize (and I'm sure Paladin feels the same) for the lack of a single coherent guide, like an e-book perhaps, on how to apply for a CCW in LA. The information is there but scattered around in diferent posts. If I had time I would take a few days to write it up in the form of an ebook. I just don't have time right now, so unfortunately applicants are going to have to spend some focused hours reading and understanding everything.

Nothing to apologize about! If they really want it, I think it's important to go pretty deep. Plus, there is a lot of great auxiliary information in the thread as well! Thanks for the quick feedback by the way

My wife just submitted her application. She had one in her native Boston, but that was really easy at the time.

Has anyone in Los Angeles County ever been issued a CCW who had a 45 year old expunged misdemeanor? My uncle would like to apply, but he is discouraged, even though he hasn’t had so much as a traffic ticket since then. He had a CCW violation when he was 22, but nothing else. I would think it is near impossible.

Depends on the misdemeanor. Concealed carrying without a license? Loaded or unloaded?

As always, it’s reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

It may possibly work if he has a very good cause. But hard to say.

I’ll let the experts chime in.

FWIW, tried to turn in application at the HQ on Ramona and was told it needed to go to a station.

No hassles turning in the applications at East LA station.

Just spend $30 to apply and find out. What’s the worst that can happen? He’ll get denied for lack of GMC and be out of $30. He can always reapply later if AV liberalizes more in July.

ETA: you didn’t say what sort of GC he has.

Sounds promising based on what he said. But hard to tell as he mentioned Good Cause is needed.
