Just completed my renewal and wanted to share my experience with everyone who is renewing. I submitted my app 92 days before my expiration (with renewal clearly marked on my envelope). I received the phone interview 2 months after sending my app and got my proceed to training email two weeks after that. Sent in my training documents same day as I had already completed it (no received confirmation for the training documents). Two days after sending my training documents I got a call for pick up two weeks out. Got my permit in hand day before my permit expires.

All in all pretty smooth process.

I submitted my app on 6.22, checked was cashed in 9/22, and have not heard anything. The app I submitted had the good cause statement but I did not fill it out because of the Supreme Court ruling, did they trash my app? Should I send a new one?

I doubt they trashed the app, based on the spreadsheet, it looks like June apps are just started getting calls for interview in mid-April. SuperLux looks like the exception, as they were called back in January. Just hang in there, the call is coming.

6/2022 Application Mailed In & Delivered
7/2022 Money Order Cashed
2/6/2023 Emailed LASD regarding App Status This may have made the difference. A friend in similar situation also emailed asking for App status and received a call for interview 3 weeks later.
2/6/2023 Reply received: App in Process
2/28/2023 Call to setup interview appt.
3/2023 Interviewed

I also doubt they trashed your app. That's a huge gap between sending and cashing. Did you deliver to a local station?

I mailed my app on 6/28 and the cashiers check wasn't cashed until 9/28. To date I haven't heard a thing from LASD.

On the spreadsheet database, we have a pretty decent sample size (relatively speaking) for March 2022 submissions and the average time between mailed date and call for interview is 294 days.

Being a June 2022 applicant, I'm 315 days from mail date and 223 days from the date my check was cashed.

For anyone interested, I'd encourage you to enter your timeline information on the spreadsheet in my signature - it'd be nice to also hear if there's any updates on pick up dates for members that were close to the finish line in the process:

That's right, I completely forgot about the increase in applications (and cashing time) post Bruen decision.
