It almost feels like they're doing call for pickups one week out of the month only. I'm worried they'll call me while I'm traveling and am out of pocket for days at a time.

There's a decent amount to unpack there. It changes requirements for obtaining a CCW as well as designating, basically everywhere, a sensitive place where you cant carry.

It's starting to look like this is the case, which is unfortunate and highly frustrating. It's almost like they are making efforts to speed up everybody that's newly applying at the expense of those of us who have already waited over a year to get to the finish line. I guess it makes sense from the standpoint of trying to get lawyers off your back, but man, I'm pretty fed up with this process.
The family and I were in Mojave, CA earlier this month which has turned into a real hell hole. We were pulling our RV through and needed to stop to feed our screaming baby, grab lunch and just try to collect ourselves and the kids to make the next stretch. It was hands down the. most. unsafe. I've ever felt, anywhere.
Needless to say we hustled out of there, but man, knowing that I was deprived of my ability to protect my family really got to me that day.6/28/22 - Mailed

Geez. I have 2 missed calls in that past couple of weeks that came from an unknown number, and voicemails left saying it's Deputy somebody from LASD (couldn't make out the name) and to call him back to do my interview. Of course both times he doesn't leave a call back number and there's no caller ID.
I didn't purposely ignore the calls as he first called after 6pm one night and I was at the gym, and again while I was in a work meeting and couldn't take any calls.
I called the Sheriff's dept in my area and one in Montebello and they have no record of this. I originally mailed in my app & payment on 6/29/22 and just now received the calls almost 18 months later. It looks like I have to submit another application and pay another app fee to start this all over, and from the backlog I can probably expect another call in 2025

You need to call the CCW unit, not your local Sherrif's... call them now at (213) 229-3110 before they throw your app out.Geez. I completely agree... it's obviously not taken seriously nor would I have expected it to be given the past. It's starting to look like this is the case, which is unfortunate and highly frustrating. Have you tried to confirm they received your training when you submitted? Curious because I didn't see it on the spreadsheet.LA County CCW Timeline:

Sent training docs in response to P2T email immediately. Waited a month then emailed asking them to confirm receipt which they responded to saying confirmed.
I called the CCW unit at the beginning of November to ask if they needed anything else from me as I hadn't heard anything from them and they said it was approved, just waiting final signatures (or something like that).
Not sure if my email asking for confirmation of receipt bumped me back in line or what...6/28/22 - Mailed

What happened to Firing Line in Burbank for CCW classes??
I have to do my CCW renewal. I did my first class at Firing Line in Burbank which was great as it was three miles away from me. Now I do not see them on the list. Any recommendations in my area to do renewal class?Comment

CRPA just filed suit against LASD for their issuance policy and timeframes (as well as other constitutional considerations). The suit also names La Verne PD.

I applied to the LASD for the CCW through their website online in June; and picked an interview appointment in January. According to their website: "The initial interview will be conducted telephonically on your scheduled date and time." Does that mean I will be contacted at the appointment time by phone for the interview?
Does anyone have experience with that?
Thanks

Saw this on social media just now.
CRPA filed suit against LA County Sheriff Office today to include "excessive wait times."
