Met Chris at Philipp's this morning. Good to see him again. Did some talking with Rick and a couple other fellas there about Quail and Chukar hunting. Now, that was a discussion! Chris found everything he needed. I may need to go back and grab a bag of Starline .45 Colt brass[Chris did!], but geez, I have plenty. Get stuff while you guys can, prices are going up next month.

        Bob! Good lookin' meat!

Tom! Thanks for waiting for me.

Yeah! I only went there to fetch a couple lbs of powder... but they didn't! have the stuff I wanted first, so I settled for three lbs of the third choice: 5744.

Last time I bought powder was 6 or 7 yrs ago with a few lbs here and there in the interim. Have a good stock of Unique, 2400, AA#7, AA#9, Green Dot, Titegroup, Bullseye... BL-C2, RL 15, Varget,.. I also have a few lbs of Vihtavouri... pricey stuff, then, at $32 - 35, depending... other stuff back then was +/- $22/lb...

"All I wanted was a back rub!" and instead, some brass and some slugs... just over $300... holy smokes! The powder was... are you sitting down? ...$53.../lb.

I figure I could find it for less online: Powder Valley, Midway, etc... if they have it... but then there's the shipping and HAZMAT fees on top of it all. So, what the hey. I have it now.

Hey Bob, what time is dinner?

          That looks really good
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Organize group buys and max out a hazmat tag with 48-50 lbs of powder.
The shipping and hazmat usually ends up adding around $1 to $1.50 a pound.
The hardest part lately is finding enough different powders in stock at one time that you can run a group buy.

I have so much powder that I get embarrassed thinking about buying more. I need to shoot up some ammo so I can reload the components I have sitting around!

We take off Saturday to spend a week in Vegas with one of our daughters and a couple younger grandsons. I would love to take them shooting but their dad (her ex) is a jerk. My son's girlfriend will be here taking care of the cat and some of her doctor appointments.

I smoked 2 tri tips and a chuck roast for my mother-in-law's wake. Everyone raved about it. I preferred the chuck roast as it seemed a little moister, but everyone else liked the tri tip better.

That my friend is very unfortunate, and I wish for you and the grandkids better days ahead in that regard.

I have no grandchildren (yet), but rest assured that when and if I do, those kids will have more firearms to get acquainted with, and enough ammunition to last a very long time. Luckily, my kids (and my son-in-law) are deeeeeply immersed in gun culture, hunting, shooting, outdoor stuff, etc., that I should not have to worry. At the very first inkling that a grandchild is in the works, I will scoop up a batch of very smallish youth .22 rimfire guns, to transition them after the usual BB and pellet gun learning takes place. Those will be good times indeed.

You are blessed to have daughters; have safe travels!

Thanks, all. It's been good eats for a couple days.

Now, back to the primary purpose of this thread.

It seems like the Marlins are showing up in some LGS's.
On Wednesday I was out in Simi and saw:

Baron Tactical had one in 44 mag.

Smokin' Barrel had one in 357/38.

Greta's had a pick your pleasure combo of both the 357/38 & 44 mag.
Looked like they had just got a Trapper in on consignment as well.

When what I like to use is in stock, that's a great idea!

Like Rick, I too have a good stash. Only wanted to try some H322 for plinkin' loads in my .45-70...

I use H322 for my 223 varmint load. It is far and away the best powder for my M70 Heavy Varmint and 40g varmageddons. I always want to try it in 45 Gov't, but I don't want to use up my stash in big volume stuff!

Powder prices going up Jan 1.
Powder Valley has a NO HAZMAT discount (FH12DOC) going today; you still have a few hours. I found a bunch of primers, and a few different powders I have been waiting to work up loads with.
Need to start using up small batches of leftovers that are taking up space, a good way to make some plinking/steel stuff and keep the supplies fresh.
