[QUOTE=pennstater;24445669]Rtom816, you gonna handload for that .45 Colt Rossi? Man, you're going to enjoy the heck out of that one!
MLC
Handloading seems like a good time on a lot of different levels. 45 LC is a pricey duck for sure. Don't have room or time and then there is the talent issue. So probably will be a happy consumer at L.A. Ammo and combing the appropriate threads here.
We live in Ventura County, son is in Kingman, AZ so always passin' thru the Great Mojave. I have the SxS infection real bad so we go over there to ride and get upside down as often as she'll let me.Next trip will be 7/17 for 4 or 5 days. I do NOT, sadly, think the 92 will be paroled by then. It was supposed to be in-store in Visalia on 7/2. I found out they got a stainless 45lc 16". I switched hastily as I could but that is going to add some time to get into the Sportsman's Visalia store. Likely be relegated to the range until the August trip and shooting my son's 92 in July. Worse things than this will happen.
You non re-loaders have any suggestions for 45lc ammo besides L.A.Ammo?

I bought a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt specifically so I could handload for it. This was back in the late 90s and ammo wasn't that expensive or hard to find but all of the loads were weak (for SAA type revolvers). There were published loads specifically for the Ruger that got me into reloading.
Lots and lots of components for the 45 colt and it is real fun to load for. From pipsqueak loads to slam-bangers with balls-o-fire. From there, I tooled up for every centerfire caliber I own and typically do not have to buy any factory ammo (except rimfire of coarse). I have stocked up supplies for probably several decades of recreational shooting so I'm good to go.

No, no, no! I've seen your loads in action. They work! You were a fast learner Mark. Your loads are fine. The .45 Colt is soooo easy to load for. 816, if you ever decide to handload, ask right here. We will walk you thru.

Mark, Dan, Pennstater all ... at my age not much sense in spending time in groups if you ain't learning something. You guys prove the truth of that ... in 2 days. Thank you! On my way to becoming more than a spikey haired monkey with this kind of help.

Thanks guys! I’ll pass er along. Nuther road trip in the morning. Going to Cuyama to pick up another bull.
Reloading .45 is easy. Even a cowboy can do er. Just not now.
Got ribs going on the barbee, sitting here here looking at the purple haze over the Mojave.Last edited by Horsewright; 06-25-2020, 8:17 PM.Comment

HW Thank you for the encouragement on the reload question. Says somethin' 'bout you. Taking time to encourage a newbie when you're grievin' a bit. Surprising nobody here that you would, I bet. I saw a little angel star tonight that had a mane. You think? So sorry.

I never considered the 45 long colt because ammo was $$ and just about everything I looked at was like you said "for SAA type revolvers" and cowboy action shooting. It just didn't appeal to me. On the other hand, I had a 16" 44mag model 92 that was just no fun to shoot. The magnum loads were too much for fun blinking and the 44sp loads cost more than the mag loads, when I could find em.I bought a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt specifically so I could handload for it. This was back in the late 90s and ammo wasn't that expensive or hard to find but all of the loads were weak (for SAA type revolvers).
