    That's a drive!
I used to do that sorta stuff, but now limit my drives to 500 miles & under. And that's on a good day. With some new parts, I'll keep it to that limit.
Hopefully you had someone to trade off the driving time with.

Passing through Vegas at sunset on Fri evening so not much. Back home Saturday before sunset. Pulled into Brigham City about 0300 Sat morning. Got a room for a few hours and was at the ranch at 0830. Hung out for bout an hour and a half checking out the stallions and about 85 yearlings we were really interested in. Loaded his mare and hit the road. South bound and hammer down back in Tehachapi around 1935 or so. My son did all the driving, we were in his rig.

HW that was a long trip. Was there something special about that stud farm?

We'd bred one of our mares to that same stallion the year prior through the artificial insemination process which is how almost all horses are bred any more. Cooled semen is shipped and then the vet does the rest. Our mare didn't take even though she was bred through 3 cycles. When a breeding is bought there is a live foal guarantee. So ya can bring back another mare if the first one doesn't take. Speaking with 3 different vets whose opinions we value they all said to change the stallion. Sometimes certain stallions and certain mares just don't mix. So we did. We gave the original breeding to our son and we found another stallion to breed our mare too. It worked out, we go this week to pick up our mare (only to Santa Yanez and back this time) who is now in foal to the different stallion and Logan's (my son), his mare is now in foal to the original stallion. So some of it is simply money, the breeding was already paid for. He had to pay a $250 chute fee which covers the process of collecting the stallion and then breeding the mare when he dropped her off and board when we picked her up. But that was pretty much a wash as they had a mare in Bakersfield that needed a ride up there and they paid my son $300 to haul her. His board fees were $312 for 48 days. On top of the financial this was a really great cross as far as the stallion and mare go. This is the stallion, Magneticat:

This is the stallion we bred our mare to this year, Call Me Mitch:

Interestingly the two stallions are half brothers, they have the same sire, Metallic Cat.

The only thing I know about horses is that the few times I went to Santa Anita with my dad, he would say "if there's a gray horse in the race, bet on it."

                  HW,
In a bit over 11 months you will have two beautiful foals. Nothing much better in nature to see. Pure happiness and joy to be alive.

I've called the Remington factory in Arkansas I believe for status of limited run ammo a couple of times in the past.. they were able to give me a list of the retailers where the largest shipments went which led me to successfull purchases.. case of .38s&w (.38/200) to feed my old top breaks comes to mind.. good luck!

I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

                          Hair,
I don't know if bullet casting is an option for you or if this mold is round nose. But the price is right.

Here is a link - I didn't check all their options but this is for a RN. I have used their RNFP .45 bullets.
