Hec yeah, I'd really like to see how this place is Tuesday - Thursday late morning.

Only a few years ago they were very limited on new membership and you had to pass an interview.. no way I'd pass that.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

The limited membership I got only allows access on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The full membership has a wait list and requires “sponsors”

Marlin center fire lever action day at the range yesterday. My Dad's 1936 (30-30) on the left, my 336C in the center and my 1894 in .45 Colt on the right.

I can't remember the last time I shot the 1936, probably 20 years ago at least. It is still accurate, with a slick action. Most probably because of the smooth trigger (my Dad worked it over decades ago), it shot tighter groups than the 336.

        Fun day!

Now that is a Marlin "Perch Belly" on that '36 Marlin! Good day at the range, I am sure. Happy Easter!

I’ve often wondered as to the why Marlins always had that big forearm. I can tell ya from personal experience that as far as a saddle gun goes slimmer there aka Winchester is better. Looks like a great day at the range.

Wondered that, too. Most of my Marlin are late models, but my '51 39A is a bit plump up there. It's one of the reasons I admire my Winchesters. Love my Marlin, too, though, for how they shoulder and how they shoot!

Here's wishing everyone here in the MLC a great Easter holiday. I've taken a little time to reflect on our blessings, today. Wishing the best for you, too.

Yeah, my '57 39A is a bit of a porker also. Had thought of trimming that fore end some, but thought better of it. Leaving it alone. Happy Easter guys.

                  Happy Easter Everyone!

I’ ve thought of trimming my Guide Gun down. Making it more svelte. But then it wouldn’t match the checkering on the butt stock. Re checkering is above my paygrade

There is a description of this in my Marlin book, I'll have to go look it up and report.

                    Stay tuned...

Well, the book indicated that the stock was reshaped with what is called a "fish-belly shape that Marlin called a 'sure-grip, semi beaver tail forearm'".

They don't necessarily say why they did this. Here is a picture of the book cover:

It is about 1 3/4" thick and is loaded with everything Marlin, a great book. Also, I think the painting on the front cover is amazing, lots of character there.

Wonder if it was just to be different than Winchester?

Yes, I believe that was one reason. They (Marlin) saw the Winchester 94 as their main competition.

Finally got the ejection and extraction issues squared away with that "bargain" 94/22M I fished off of GunBroker a while back. Function tested it this morning and the target below is the result, shooting off-hand at 50 yards into an 8" bullseye. Windage is dead-on, and elevation nearly so. Got to work on my sight picture a bit to see if I can mitigate the vertical stringing. I might try this one out for silhouette competition in the future.

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

You bet, is packed with everything Marlin, lots of very interesting stuff in there.

It is fascinating to read that most of the lever actions, up until the 336 series (including the 1895) changed very little from the initial designs in the late 1890s. Legendary firearms.

My Dad (and me also) loved his 1936 over the Winchester 94 for two main reasons: 1) Pistol grip stock, 2) Side ejection even though he never intended to mount a scope.
