Mojave Lever Crew - Roll Call!

Finally got the ejection and extraction issues squared away with that "bargain" 94/22M I fished off of GunBroker a while back. Function tested it this morning and the target below is the result, shooting off-hand at 50 yards into an 8" bullseye. Windage is dead-on, and elevation nearly so. Got to work on my sight picture a bit to see if I can mitigate the vertical stringing. I might try this one out for silhouette competition in the future.

I finally had a chance to take my long barreled Uberti SSA clone out for a test. It took awhile, because I had to find bullets that would work. I have a ton 0f .430 cast and some .429 jacketed bullets that work great in my '92 Winchester carbine, but when I tried them in my Uberti they would not fully chamber. I tried all sorts of tricks with crimping and such, but the diameter of the seated bullet and neck just would not allow the cartridge to fully chamber. I called Bear Creek and they sent me a sample of their 44-40 205gr molly bullets in .428. Those chambered nice, so I took them out for a spin. See the results below on a 15 yard target.

While I was there, I practiced some with my Winchester 94/22M, and this time turned in a respectable off-hand target at 50 yards.

I just rejoined a range I belonged to years ago because they have long range available. Not that I want to shoot eally long range but the other one I'm a member of only goes out to about 100 yards. I want to shoot my one ar15 and Marlin leverguns more often. 45-70, 44 mag and 44-40.

2AZone has the Winchester 92 carbine in 44 mag in stock. I don't know what their price is but hopefully this means Winchester is producing some 92s again. I'm going over there tomorrow. I'll take a look.
