I hadn't been to a Norm's or a Denny's in years until my wife and I stopped on the way back from an early dr's appointment in Torrance...

The Lumberjack breakfast + the So Cal breakfast (w/ bacon) + two coffees...

    $37.00

    I was surprised.

I guess I'd go there for lunch for a patty melt and a salad or something...

Denny's as I recall has always been just one giant salt lick.

Hey Tom, looks like we're set for the 18th. I'm counting on you to find us a top notch eating establishment. Coffee and beer are a must. that deli/pizza place sounds good to me. Do we really need coffee?

Then we can go bitch at Rick about not having SRP's in stock

I don't think I've been to either one in the past 20 years. Last I recall Norms was better then Dennys but that's not saying much. I don't plan on going to either in the next 20...

While not lever related (as quite a few of my posts here...), but trying to keep this thread going.

Managed to get out hunting with a friend yesterday (been providing recuperative health care for a relative for a couple of months).

I got four of the birds in the picture, my buddy got three.
Although, there was some dispute on one of the birds (I think we both hit it), but it's included in my friend's count (only because he drove).

That's an 11-87 Premier in 20 gauge, below. I had never shot it until yesterday.
            It just worked awesome.

I was shooting Hevishot and that stuff works (it's denser than lead), made a couple of long shots.
On one of them, I had to shot over the top of a boulder and I couldn't have dropped the gun any lower.
The shot/wad scraped the top of the boulder (dust/grit blew up in the air), but I managed to hit the bird and he was a goner.

Hope all you MLCer's are doing well.

At least you got out and downed a few birds. Sounds like a good time.
Fine looking 11-87 there. MLC proud!

Uberti clone day at the range, testing some new .45 Colt reloads. Top to bottom, 1860 Henry clone in .45 Colt, 1873 SAA clone in 44-40, and 1873 SAA clone in .45 Colt. I had an old can of W540, and an old Lyman cast bullet manual had a load using it for .45 Colt. If you look closely at the target under the SAA, you'll see all in the black at 50 yards with the Henry, off-hand. Apparently, W540 is good stuff.

I just found out my F-I-L has a Winchester 1887(?) 10ga lever action. Gonna have to run one down the pipe just so I can experience it!!!

No, not really. We've been getting some rain, but it is scattered and light. The mountains seem to have a good snow pack, but it's only snowed a couple of times this year, and there is none on the ground. It's been a very mild winter here.

well I guess these fit in here - all three taken with lever action rifles

buddy of mine and two of his hunting buddies each got their bucks on our farm

my buddy used a 40's model 94 .30-30 that belonged to his dad

the other two used modern models, at least one was .45-70

little overkill for whitetail I thought but got the job done

they took two to nadlers in wellington and butchered one themselves

I couldn't go but they shared quite a bit of what they brought back

I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

                            Looks like good eatin'!

Always great to hear after action reports where lee-ver-action long guns were used.
