I have something similar on my Marlin Guide Gun. It is a peep on a picatinny rail. It was on the rifle when I bought it from a friend. I toy with the idea of putting a NIB Leupold 1.5-5X scope on it but haven't taken the plunge yet. So far the peep sight is working for me.

Yeah, the hot loads in a .45-70 lever gun kick! The first time I touched off a Buffalo Bore load off a bench rest was an eye opener (as in "Dayum, that hurt)! And I shoot lightweight .300 mags and .375 mags off the bench. I am still working on a lighter load with a 350 gr Acme coated bullet.

I wish I could agree that the trigger pull is the problem....its a problem but it's not why it shoots as bad as it does.

The action on this gun is similar to the Browning BLR. Henry warns buyers not to take it apart. I guess some people have tried and they wind up sending the gun and parts back to Henry.

I'd really like to get out to Route 66 shooting park, I've read good things about it. With todays gas prices it will probably be cheaper then driving to the Mojave.

I have no doubt that Henry will make it right. I'd send er back post haste. The two encounters I have had with their customer service were both above and beyond. A bunch. I have the BLR and have heard that about it. Don't take it apart. I believe them and haven't. But mine is a shooter. Had a buddy had the Long Ranger in .223 His was a shooter too. He sold it and forgot to tell me about it prior or otherwise it would be here at my rancho.

I just applied for a limited membership to West End Gun Club. It’s 30 minutes from my house, and not far from 66. I drove out to 66 one time but they had some sort of Tuners event going on so I couldn’t shoot. I was looking forward to trying out their steel gallery. My only gripe is that it’s non-magnum pistol cartridges only. Seems like a decent spot though.
