....The cardinals vote by secret ballot, processing one by one up to Michelangelo's fresco of the Last Judgment, saying a prayer and dropping the twice-folded ballot in a large chalice. Four rounds of balloting are taken every day until a candidate receives two-thirds of the vote. The result of each ballot are counted aloud and recorded by three cardinals designated as recorders. If no one receives the necessary two-thirds of the vote, the ballots are burned in a stove near the chapel with a mixture of chemicals to produce black smoke.

When a cardinal receives the necessary two-thirds vote, the dean of the College of Cardinals asks him if he accepts his election. If he accepts, he chooses a papal name and is dressed in papal vestments before processing out to the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica. The ballots of the final round are burned with chemicals producing white smoke to signal to the world the election of a new pope.

there was a pub crawl involved so some memories are a little foggy..

The Savage model 72 was made from 1972 to 1974 so it's not a legit 100+ year old original Stevens Favorite, but it's a legit 50 year old reproduction of a 100+ year old stevens favorite made by Savage after they bought Stevens with proper walnut, octagon barrel and case colored receiver.
It's also one of the cheaper ones for it's condition that I have run into while looking for one for the last couple years.

That makes one more Gunbroker saved search I don't have to check anymore...

2AZone has the Winchester 92 carbine in 44 mag in stock. I don't know what their price is but hopefully this means Winchester is producing some 92s again. I'm going over there tomorrow. I'll take a look.

I just sold a levergun and drosed a new mini 14 (what a beautiful gun) at 2AZ. I took a look at this Winchester 92. It's a beautiful gun, much better action then mine. You might be able to get it for 1k -1.1k

Fifty yards, standing, getting those hits on an 8” target will certainly get it done. Try it from sitting while using a set of sticks, and I’d bet that you would do exceedingly well on ground squirrels at any distance that your sights will allow for. A simple changing of ammunition might get even better result.
Rimfire lever rifles are always a hoot!

Not to go too far afield from the purpose of the thread, but there was a time when I did know how to shoot a rifle fairly well. The target below was fired on with a Remington 513T using open (peep) sights. Those target blacks are 4" across. From the top down - off-hand, sitting, and prone. I won a buckle on the strength of that target, and that's why it hangs on the wall.
