I was on Taylor's website earlier this evening and every SA and lever action I looked at was out of stock. Nine out of ten lever actions I checked out on Cimarron's website were out of stock. I went to Uberti's website and they don't indicate in stock or out of stock but have a link to find a dealer. So, if the manufacturers are low or out of stock I don't expect to find much at the retail shops.

Well, it's been a couple of months

...so I decided it was time to cook up a brisket.

Doing it a little different this time.
      • Pulled it out of the fridge a few hours before starting this morning, to get the meat closer to room temperature.
      • Using pecan for the first time.

I was browsing through the lever actions on GunBroker and saw quite a few that interested me. Some were NIB and some had a Buy It Now price. I'll have to find an FFL near me and see what they would charge per transaction.

Looks good Bob. How are you liking that Weber?

Hey Guys, I just got back from doing a dros at The 2AZone, the store. I've always been to the houses. FWIW, they had a ton of ammo. He couldn't think if anything that they didn't have.

They had about 30 cases of Tula 7.62x36. I didn't ask for cost, I just know that they had a lot of inventory..

Unlike grilling a steak, I have found that meat is best smoked from a cold temp, not room temp. ( I have smoked 175 pounds of brisket for crowds of over 200 people for NRA Dinners several years and received rave reviews, even from Texans.) I get a better smoke absorbtion and a deeper smoke ring from cold. At least in my experience. The picture is my cohort, Steve, applying rub to one of 6 trays of brisket.

Traded the new Rossi 44mag for a Mini 30.
I mentioned on our last shoot that I thought the 44 was a mistake. I should have got the 45lc.

He got the new 44 Rossi R92 20" barrel, new dies, 300pcs of new Starline Brass, couple hundred primers and around 650 bullets. In exchange I got the 189 series mini 30 and 240 rds of ammo, half brass and half steel. I only put 55 rds through that gun.

I feel it was an even trade.

I alread have everything to reload 7.62x39 plus I have a bunch of Tula and brass case ammo.

On .30-30 day we'll have to drag out these .308 shorts. Remember I've got that CZ 527 Carbine and ammo for it.

I think a big part of the problem is, inventories are changing rapidly in a days work and those sites don't have time to update their web pages to reflect what they really do and don't have. Prolly best to call them directly. B.

I think we all put a few rounds through it that day.

I got to get to the range and really work on the Henry 308 so I can be sure when I send it back. I don't think an 8# trigger is the complete cause of its poor grouping

It should be easy to find an FFL near me that I can work with. Then, calling won't be a problem since I'm retired and home during the day I can call out of state companies during business hours.
