I wasn't trying to imply that you were impatient. That was more of a general statement, I should have been more specific.

I applied 3/14/14. I called a couple days before they called me to tell me it was approved to see if they had receive the results from finger prints from doj or if it was past that stage. They told me they had no way to tell me what the status was until it comes back to them signed off from the sheriff. Then a couple days later I got a call at 8:30 am from a blocked # letting me know it was good to go. I didnt see 1st call, but they called back immediately a 2nd time and i caught it.

Interesting observation that I think a few others may have pointed out as well...My interview was yesterday (05/28). For ****s and giggles this morning (05/29), I gave the LiveScan phone number a try (instructions in post #1085 via Mr. Joshua) to see what the status was using my ATI#. Per the automated phone response, my background info from both DOJ & FBI had "been completed and sent back to the agency". That was fast!

I called and my livescan and FBI clearance came back the same day as my interview. April 9. No call yet.

GMC letters are not required. Who are you applying thru? If its Tracy PD then you are wasting your time as Chief Hampton very rarely issues.

No letters required for Sheriff. Only Good cause you need to give is "self defense/personal protection". You are free to add more if you feel necassary.

Has anyone with speeding tickets on their record applied? If so, did they deny you? My appointment is next week, and I'm wondering if I should reshedule it. I have 5 moving violations in the last 5 years. 2 of them will be over 5 years in August. It's been almost 3 years since my last ticket.

You may want to reschedule not judging you but 5 In 5 years is a bit rough. Two months is not that long and that may make a difference. The bad thing is if you do get denied it will follow you forever. The question on the application is have you ever been denied and if so why, you will be explaining that for a long time. Just my 2 cents.

What does traffic violations have to do a good moral character? But, what is two months for two of them to drop off. When I asked he interviewer about gmc, he said convictions that gave doubt about your character. Or leaving things out of your background, hoping they won't find out, ie... lying, or lying by omission. That is, by his definition bad moral character.

I think I'll just reschedule and wait two more months. Hopefully they won't deny me if I have 3 violations. I'm clean besides that. I also want to see what's going to happen after elections.

When I went in for my interview, the investigator told me that the couple of traffic violations I listed would have no bearing on my application. (I listed them even though they didn't show on my DMV printout, which I had with me.) Of course I have yet to hear anything on my application, so I'll have to wait and see if that is true.
