JasonB, thanks for the run down on the appointment.

When was the last time you applied with the SO? I too previously applied but was told I would need to pay for another Livescan since it had been more than a year since.

I go in in a couple weeks.

I paid fees to the sheriff back when Calgun's had us doing CCW procedure, Looks like that was Dec of 2010

The other time or two there were no fees involved with SO. At least I can remember anyways. I do not have payment records back to 2007 for SO

I know I applied with Manteca PD first in 2007 and then SO, because at that time SO would not take an application without first being denied by City.

App'd again with Manteca PD in 2008

SO again in Dec 2010, this time it was 19$ and 120$ check thing with certified letter etc etc...

      Manteca PD in Sept/Oct 2012

Manteca PD had fees each time applied, but they were not live scan related.

They were 35$ range / qualification days you had to do before you could even turn in the application.

It is possible i threw out other applications or didn't make copies at the time. Those were the ones I had in a folder

        Good news to me.

That's the same time I went in. Got my denial by mail March 2011.

        Thanks for the info.

I need to know if there is anyone that has had to be re-fingerprinted that has previously applied? Thank you.

Edit: You can shoot me a PM if you do not want to post it live.

I have my appointment on Monday, 4/7 for my interview and fingerprinting. Do I need to put anything other than 'personal protection outside my residence/self-defense' for the good cause statement?

Thank you for the welcome! I will let you all know how it goes. I was actually quite surprised...I called at 1655 on Thursday, 4/3 and they said 'how about Monday, 4/7'. I know they've increased their processing days from once a week to 3 times a week so I must have caught them at a good time. Neither husband nor I have any criminal record and not so much as even a traffic violation. So, in theory, there should be no logical reason for denial but I guess we'll see. Looking forward to getting this taken care of before there is any opportunity for the courts to overturn the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and BEFORE the election. Will post updates...

Interview went well. The guy introduced himself as 'Dale' but didn't give a title so I don't know if he was a Lt. or not. The appt was for me and my husband and they took copies of our drivers' licenses, took a quick mugshot, and the went back to a room for 'interview'. He reviewed our answers to each question and said the GCS of 'self-defense - personal protection' was perfect. He said that the system is a bit back logged right now due to the large influx of new applicants and it COULD take 6-8 weeks to get the fingerprints back (but the guy doing the fingerprinting said 3-4 weeks). Then he said it can take up to 2 weeks for them to look it over and put it on the sheriffs desk. . He said if we are pretty confident that our background checks will be clear that we might want to schedule out training since those are also back logged. Then, once it's approved and we've completed the training, we come in and pay the remaining $75 and get our permits. They would be good for 2 yrs from actual dare of issue (not application date). Then went to next hallway and did the LifeScan fingerprinting and we were done. I'll post again when we get a response.

You might want to wait to make sure it is signed off. It wod suck to pay $500 or so for the class and something around here changes and they don't sign off on it.

Yeah, we thought about that. We aren't in a big hurry and the instructor has told us it won't be a problem to get the training done. Plus, we are both pretty busy for the next 6 weeks anyway. We will probably wait just to be sure. But I thought it was encouraging that he said that. I forgot to mention that while we were there, a guy came in to pick up his permit that had been approved and the gal at the front desk was just calling someone to tell them theirs was approved and they just needed to bring in their proof of training and $75.

rleepac, how long from the time you called until you got your call back? I see that from the call back to the actual visit appears to be just 2 business days?

Call back Thursday, appointment following Monday?
Did you have one scheduled further out and it was bumped up?

                          Thx

That's correct. I called Thur evening and they got us in on Monday. I think I might have just hit them right after they started processing on 3 days/wk instead of one and they had plenty of openings.

Had my interview late Feb. or early Mar. don't remember the exact date. Did my training over the last weekend, and picked up my CCW yesterday with no restrictions.
