Greetings all! I'm a n00b on this forum, the CCW process in general, and have been lurking for some time. I was curious if you wouldn't mind providing me the "Readers Digest" of where we stand for CCW, perhaps specific to my situation below?

I've been shooting shotguns for a long time and been around weapons my whole life. But I've been lazy and finally went to get my HSC test over the weekend. Of course passed 100%, and how could you not?! But given my newly minted and vulnerable piece of paper, would it be appropriate for me to register for a CCW after a training course? My background is crystal clean with the gov't, or I couldn't do what I do for a living. Would my situation be a red-flag being a newbie? I appreciate your advice in advance.

DO IT! Doesnt matter how long you've been shooting. If your background is clean and you can pass a qualification test in the 16 hour CCW class, then you should do it now while they are issuing the permits.

I have an SSE on my permit. As of right now SJSO doesn't care. We will see what the future holds.

So do I but I also have another on my permit that is on roster. I just wanted him to know the possible ramifications of only having 1 gun to put on your permit and having it be a SSE even though it currently doesn't matter in sJC.

No. He's a member here under his own name, Sheriff Moore. He seems to be a pretty straight forward guy. While I have your attention, sir, how big of a campaign donation will I have to make after the election to get a CCW permit from you? Assuming you're re-elected, of course.

By the way, I saw that the CRPA gave Pat Withrow a grade of "A," while you only got a "B." Do you have any comment on why they judged him to be a greater ally to gun owners, the 2nd Amendment, and the general right to keep and bear arms than you?

The article speaks directly to the integrity of the man a lot of you want to be sheriff so u can get those coveted ccws....Withrow got caught lieing...what else has he lied to us about??

Did my interview 3 weeks ago, hoping for the best! Interviewer, the retired Sheriff was very nice. I have a spotless record so we'll see.

Hope the recent Sta. Barbara shooting doesn't change the Sheriff's fickle mood. If anything, it's more reason to want to defend yourself and others. But of course, this is CA where we blame tools and not the nutcases who decide to misuse them. Case in point, the poor victim's dad interviewed... So sad for him but in his pain and anguish he seems to be more upset at the NRA than the nutjob who took his son's life. It may reverberate as a weapon for Kamala Harris.

Be patient! I just wanted to follow up and see if we still have members applying! The more responsible CCW holders we get out there the less grounds any sheriff will have to reverse course.
