Actually, you don't need to own the "CCW firearm" before you apply.

You do need to "own" a firearm before you apply. It can be any firearm though. When I applied I was busy working on my Sig P220 so I listed that on my application. It is not on my permit.

If the Sig P238 you're buying is your first firearm I would definitely wait to apply. If you already own firearms feel free to apply now. You're going to have some time before your interview so there's a chance that you could do some more shopping before you even get to the range date. This will allow to find more guns to list on your pemit, you can have 3.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Does anyone know what the current timelines are for a new CCW? Or, at least, how far out is the interview from the online application date? Thank you.
One thing you can't beat Commiefornians at are the reloads.

Question is, would this be sufficient 'good cause' to get a CCW?

        Thanks in advance.
Focus less on the protection of equipment and more on protection of yourself due to your environment.

Do you, as a free-lance, independent photographer, on a regular basis:
-carry/transport thousands of dollars of photographic equipment with you?
        -have to frequent dangerous areas?
-believe your life may be at risk due to being targeted for theft of the equipment?
-travel alone, often late at night, on hi-ways, by-ways and city streets?

Do you have any examples of other photographers who have been robbed/accosted? (Police reports are good).

I have not heard anything. But, I do know that because of everything going on they had shut down the division and just reopened it on June 1st.

They are playing a game of catch up. I would expect a fairly long wait. To give you an example, I procrastinated and didn't apply until after the San Bernardino shooting. It took me a little over 15 months from application to permit.

If you haven't already applied, do it now and get in line. All you can do is wait for the call. Good luck.

I actually own several handguns already, but none suitable to concealed carry. This is good news, I will apply ASAP and it'll give me time to get the actual firearm I want. Thanks.

Yes to all of the above. And I will have to reach out to the other photogs for their police reports. Thanks.

Valid argument. I assumed it was going to be a first time purchase. Apologies.

Might add that Police response time is bad in those areas.

All good. I should've mentioned I have other handguns.

Don't just put self defense personal protection. They want you to write 3-4 sentences on why you feel you need to be able to protect yourself.

Orange County was the same way and that's sorta what I thought. Thanks for the info.
