      RENEWAL

If I turn in my app tomorrow do you think I can take the class tomorrow afternoon. Do the classes have to be setup in advanced.

You won't be taking the required class till they start offering them again. Classes are scheduled by the CCW division. You will be contacted if you are approved to attend a class.

It's new news, they just sent out the mass email on the 2nd.

If you already submitted your paperwork and didn't request a change of addition, you're unfortunately SOL

              Hey everyone,

New member here, I tried utilizing the search before posting but couldn’t find anything pertaining to my situation.

I am currently going to be getting my first firearm soon (Springfield XD) and I was looking into getting my CCW and I was looking over the forms and the question came up about prescribed medications and mental health. I currently take antidepressants for my Panic/Anxiety not much to help with any type of depression and I used to smoke marijuana in the past like once every six months with the last time being 2 and a half years ago.

Would these be factors that would likely get me denied?

Don’t want to spend money if it seems like a lost cause.

              Thank you everyone

^^^^ As far as the pot goes the answer is "I used to smoke a weed years ago, but I don't touch it now." I used to smoke all kinds of weed when I was young and I told them so, they don't care about that as long as you are honest about it and aren't a current user.

Good question on the panic/anxiety meds, but if I had to guess that might be a problem. Pretty sure they don't want you walking around high on Xanax or Valium and carrying a weapon. You might want to go to your doc and get an evaluation as to getting off of your meds and dealing with your issues in another way. Of course the flip side of that is if you aren't able to handle the panic/anxiety when you aren't on the meds, then perhaps carrying a firearm isn't a great idea either.

I don't know what your antidepressants are, and I am certainly not the authority on this but just that word doesn't sound good to the layman. Telling the interviewing detective that you have no side effects and that you're slowly getting off of them might not carry much weight. Perhaps it's best to wait until you aren't on them at all to apply.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but a denial on your record isn't good for future applications. Let's let a few other people here chime in and get their opinion.

So I emailed Prado Shooting Park to see what the program is for renewals there. Here's what they said:

We are available for renewals Monday, Tuesday, Thursday-Friday 9am-4pm. No appointment needed.

$35 fee— cash or card payments are ok

Must requalify with each gun registered on CCW. 10 rounds each at 5 yard line.

If you have any further questions feel free to give Raul a call 909-597-4518.

                      Thank you for your inquiry,

                      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I was there yesterday and it went smoothly, qualified with two other people.
Raul also told me that someone from the CCW division would pick up the range cards at least once a week to take them back HQ to process them.
I was there in the 1:00 hour and he also said they had been busy all day, more people were coming in as I was leaving

I am grateful that the Sheriffs office made these arrangements and I didn't even blink at the $35.00, would have been worth twice that to me to be able to renew

That's good to hear. I'm only about 20 minutes from them. I just hope that they keep the program in place for the foreseeable future. My permit doesn't expire until April. The new video class and remote requalification sure would be nice when it's my turn.

Went by Prado today and did my requalification. Same format as my original and recerts. (2) mags of 5 rounds each for each pistol. Center mass from 5 yards. I was in and out in probably less than 30 minutes. They were only open until 3pm today (not sure if that is their regular cutoff or not?). Just myself and one other on the line of (6) stations, and nobody leaving or waiting on either end of us (we were probably the last group of the day though). Make sure to bring your permit and your own ammo.

Did you get a notice from the CCW office or did you go on your own?
