Anyone have details on the Devore range day, specifically related to directions, where to park, etc?
I have the address and know where the range is but I have never been there before and if it is large enough, I don't want to be confused on where to park, which building the training is in, etc.
Also, how long is the lunch break? Trying to figure out if I should pack a lunch or if there is so much time that I might as well leave to get something. What do most do?
Thanks for any help.Comment

Just to note, classes are now roughly double in size to 80 from 40 so you might be in academy classroom A (my class was). You will see signage and staff will be there to direct you. Once dismissed for lunch, you can relocate your vehicle, from the basic academy parking area up to the range area (Range 1, 2, 3).Originally posted by WASR10Hi bonzai,
Once you get on Institution Rd, you will pass the jail and academy buildings. The range will be on the right, and there is a sign. There are two parking lots, a sharp right turn and a slight right turn. Either lot is good to park in. It will be easy to see when you're there. If you go too far, you will see the range very plainly on the right and you can just turn around. The class is in the only building next to the range. The receptionist is very friendly and ill show you to the right room.
In my class, we opted not to break for lunch, and everyone was invited to eat at their desk. it is a very casual atmosphere, so don't be afraid to bring a sandwich or snacks. Most people were eating throughout the day. I brought my lunch, but I could have easily waited until after class, so no big deal if you don't bring anything.
I suggest you bring your lunch and eat in the vicinity of the range. Staff usually sets up a little early to inspect your pistols and sign off the basics on your range card. Inspecting up to 80 people between 1 & 3 guns takes time.Comment

No worries. You should also note, we only shot 10 rounds from 5 yards using a B-27 target, even though the paperwork said 30 rounds. I still had plenty of extra rounds just in case. I'm not sure if they've updated the paperwork given out at the interview. They mentioned you must make at least 8 of 10 rounds between the 7 (outer ring) and 10 ring (center ring). You are also required to clear your own malfunction(s), as this is considered part of your functions check should you actually have a malfunction.Comment

can confirm this, had my class/range on 3/12. There won't be any question as to where to go, you'll see signs guiding you to the parking lot ("CCW"), and signs guiding you from the parking lot all the way to the classroom.Just to note, classes are now roughly double in size to 80 from 40 so you might be in academy classroom A (my class was). The reason they say "30" is for remediation rounds.
You have to get 8/10 on target. If you get fewer than 8, you get two opportunities to re-shoot the course, so you could potentially use as many as 30rds for each gun you are qualifying with.
To everyone who hasn't yet had the class....
One thing I noticed in my class was the number of people that had only one magazine.
They were allowed to shoot, but had to "simulate" a reload... in the case of a gun with a decocker it was used as a part of the simulation.
So to make life easier, if you only have one magazine, PLEASE find a spare. You will then be able to pre-load 5 rounds into each mag at the bench and you'll be ready to go without hassle.
This was at Apple Valley where the class is 20. I don't know how Devore handles this, particularly if there are 80 people in the class.- Rich

I went to the class on 3/12 as well. It was a big class (more than 80 people). Thanks to Snowslider from Calguns for answering question via PM, which helped preparing me for the class.
Got a call from the county to come in and pick up the card on 3/17. The entire process took about 6 months from the day I submitted the application.

Paperwork question about San Bernardino county ccw
I don't have my original birth certificate and marriage license. Will certified private copies work in their place instead of the public copies? The private copies have more detailed information than the public copy. Or am I out of luck on this?
