KZAP - If you are waiting on initial approval from the Sheriff's department, I don't know if they are delaying that too. Appointments are definitely being cancelled for final issue, and the initial appointment.

On another note, who is the bonehead budgeting for the SCSD?
      What is conditional approval?

        Purely my opinion and observations:

No one screws up the budget "burn rate" at this point in a fiscal year. A dramatic cut in programmed spending only comes about by management budget directives.

I suspect this is caused by backlash from the Sacramento Bee's recent campaign against CCWs, and to discredit Jones in his Congressional run. The Bee is an adamant supporter of Congressman Ami Bera (D) and Jones is running against Bera this Fall.

On April 23d, the Sacrament Bee published a major piece focusing on the Sacramento Sheriff's CCW issuance policy. (http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article73538112.html). While appearing to be balanced, it skewed to the left, setting the stage for....

A May 2d screed by the Bee Editorial Board, excoriating the Sheriff for his CCW policy. http://www.sacbee.com/opinion/editor...e75232272.html

The County Supervisors (heavily D) approve the Budget, and they just approved the new County Executive's contract on April 28. (http://www.saccounty.net/news/latest...ll-as-CEO.aspx)

Probably just a coincidence that all of these things fall onto a timeline immediately before a County Office (Sheriff) budget takes a hit.

SSD says they will begin again in July. That gives the Board of Supervisors a chance to review the CCW program at the June meeting.

Correlation does not equal causation, but politics is politics.

This is the email you get after your initial interview with livescan instructions.
It was just an old plywood boat, with a '75 Johnson, with electric choke. A young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel.

Wife is pissed. Cancelled her issuance appointment. Here's what the email says for anyone wondering:

"Unfortunately due to budgetary constraints we are unable to process new applications and new issuances at this time. We anticipate our normal process will resume in July. Please continue to check the website for updated information. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. Individuals whose appointment was cancelled will be given first access to the scheduling calendar when it becomes available"

Is that what the means, start over, or in process are just on hold. I've paid for my livescan, so that shouldn't stop. If they were taking 2 months to come back, that's July for me anyway. So the will be some backlog when it starts back up. I'm still going to move forward with training so that's done when livescan comes back...

I would assume it's just a hold pending review and we will see more information coming out later. My concern is that "budgetary constraints" is very ambiguous and there is something bigger brewing.

I hope he doesn't fold because of that stupid Sac Bee article.

Disappointing, but can't imagine this would be why after all of these years. I'm going to proceed as normal, and just have faith that it will resume.

If no one is in the unit, no one will be there to tell you when your livescan result comes back.

I was told the class was good for 2 years. So anyone know if I take it and say in 6 months they resume issuing is the training still good? I realize the risk that they may change requirements, or not resume ever, but I might be willing to take the risk...

You are good with the 2 year expiration, and with the training requirements. I can't imagine they would change it.
