Here is a nice incident. One of my son in laws is an ex-felon on a technical conviction eleven years ago and has never been in trouble since. He and my daughter needed to move in with me and I am a gun collector besides a CCW holder since 2011. In 2014 the ex-felon team came to my house and went through it and checked my weapons (around 100 of them) and left without issuing a citation, arrest, or anything. They talked to both of us and felt it was safe to leave my son in law in the house with approximately a hundred weapons ranging from 1816 to 2014. I went in to renew my CCW this year and was rejected because i did not tell them about the inspection or the fact I had an ex-felon living in my house. Why should I when all the lousy cop asked was did I have anything else I thought was important. My son in law had been cleared by the team at my house and we were only asked to install a second gun safe as a suggestion not a requirement. If you think Scott Jones is fair minded Sheriff think again. My CCW was denied not on anything I did but on what the sheriff thinks might happen. I no longer carry a CCW and nothing has changed at my house. My guns are still locked up, I still have a clean bill of health so to speak from the felon team since 2014, my son in law does not touch them even when I have them out, and life goes on. I would trust my son in law and my daughter far faster than the sheriff. Also my daughter had her's denied (carried since 2011) because she notified then she was married to an ex-felon who works his rear end off as a husband. I seriously question their standards and methods in judging people. I did nothing wrong but that does not matter. Good luck with this department unless you are really into kissing a--.Comment

Hey,
I'm hearing that over in Placer county, after LIVE SCAN, they are blaming delays of up to six months on a back log at the DOJ.
How are things going in Sac County. What sort of delays are are going on over here? What sort of time frame after LIVE SCAN?
DuhgBetter to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

About 70 days. Go back a couple of pages on this thread and scan for reports of specifics.

I thought you only needed one money order for $80.00 at time of permit issue? I'm still waiting on DOJ .I got my second renewal yesterday. It took about 30 minutes at the Hurley Way office and that included a gun change and employer address change.
The Sac SO permits team is efficient, courteous and a pleasure to deal with.
Just follow the instructions on their website and have everything they tell you to bring (filled out application, copies of 2 residence documents and your training certificates, and the 2 money orders) and you should get in and out with no problemsComment

I can confirm Placer County's delays. I livescanned on 4/23 (127) days ago. I called about 2 weeks ago to check status and they said they still had not received results backs from DOJ.Comment

I can as well. Livescaned March 18th. California response cleared electronically June 19th. Placer says they are still waiting for the paper.Comment

They're technically supposed to get two proofs of residence and the $80 money order or cashiers check but when I did my final issuance appointment, it was deemed that my first proofs of residence were recent enough. That was Sacramento.sigpicComment

How are DOJ delays not effecting Sac County?
[QUOTE=Dvrjon;16836712]About 70 days. Go back a couple of pages on this thread and scan for reports of specifics.
Thank you for the feed back but...
What I am trying to seek clarity on is, how is it that Placer County is claiming delays of 6 months or more due to DOJ delays after live scan Meanwhile you are claiming about 70 days (2 months) out of Sac County.
I only ask because I know someone out of Placer whom it was explained to due to excessive gun sales the DOJ is backed up and CCW background checks are delayed in excess of 6 months.
This is CRAZY. Sounds to me the folks up in Placer are getting the run around. Why aren't those same delays effecting Sac County???
Any thoughts?Better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

In 2011 my time from Livescan until approval for my issuance appointment was only 10 calendar days. Total timeline from initial appointment until permit in hand was only 38 days. Surprised how long some of these are taking here in Sacramento County. Even with the ramp-up in staff and the streamline method of printing permits on the spot after final/issuance appointment, it just baffles me that we have such a backlog. I really believe it's mostly due to the delivery method from the Livescan. I've been told Sacramento won't give you the go-ahead for issuance until they have the actual Livescan paper copy in there hands.

This is going to be lengthy, but since you asked, I'm going to provide detailed information upon which you can derive a conclusion.Thank you for the feed back but...

First, I'm not claiming 70 days--the people who have gotten issued in Sacramento have been reporting an average of about 70 days.
I suggested a review of some of the recent postings by Sacramento folks, and since that apparently hasn't been done, I'll provide it:or:
or:or:or:Are you beginning to see a trend in the FACTUAL reports of Livescan clearance in Sacramento County? Do you think these have substantively changed in the past couple of weeks?Excessive gun sales (odd turn of a phrase, eh?) have delayed DOJ reports in the past, but only in the early months of years due to enhanced gun sales at the end of years when Obama was being elected, the end of SSE(1) in California or draconian California gun laws were being enacted on the first of the year. Why would there be a run on gun sales in May-Aug? Have you been in a gun store lately? The shelves are full, and there aren't lines of people out the door trying to buy guns. So, if we aren't seeing people pounding purchases of sales at the store level, how can DOJ be swamped due to "excessive gun sales"?Perhaps they don't exist?Yeah, call this guy:

Hey DVRjon,
Thanks for all the feed back. I just wanted to cry about the shenanigans going on over in Placer. Sounds as though Placers " DOJ delay" is a bunch of bull. Of course, one must ask, what can any of them do about it? File suit?
The person I know genuinely needs it and this delay quite possibly putting them at risk.
A whole lot of poop is what I say...
Good thing I live in Sac!Better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.
