Don't bother calling the Livescan number. It told me my app was still in process weeks after I picked up my permit. Just wait for the call from the CCW division. Nothing you can do to speed it up. Research and buy a holster while you wait.

Good info, I was just going to say I called DOJ yesterday and my live scan was was still processing. When I did my interview in March 2017 Deputy Searles said live scans were only taking a few weeks helping them speed up the process. I assume the executive staff is just busy and that is the delay.

Double tripple check your paperwork. Make sure you have everything needed and everything filled out. Money order ready. It's fairly easy and the deputy is very helpful. Good luck.

This (and your post) is in the 'Riverside' County Forum.

There are a few people on this site who wouldn't mind helping you out with your GC. However, I believe that everyone here would agree that the best source of help with your GC would be the staff at the RCSO CCW Dept. They are very helpful and honest. Nothing you say or do will be held against you in asking them for their opinion on your GC (except, of course, attempting to hide something about your past that puts you in a bad light...reveal everything). They will give you their honest critique and tell you if it will pass muster. They may even give you some hints on how to strengthen it, put something in, leave something out, etc.

Trust me, the CCW staff are pro-2A and WANT you to get approved and will do what it takes to help you get it done. Please just take this one piece of sage advice. Have all of your ducks in a row when you show up for your interview. You've got almost 2 years to get the application and all the requisite documentation in order. Don't wait until the last minute to put it all together. Show up ready with everything listed on the application check list.

                        Good luck.

They are nice guys but they're not going to give you a reason why you should be carrying a gun. They might hint at things that will be helpful but they're not going to make your statement for you.

RSO staff are very helpful but there not going to write it for you.
