Hi Sleighter, Your post showed up when I posted mine so they overlaped. Hard data to me is Permits submitted, permits approved, permits denied for a set time period. I realize how hard it is getting it. Hpoefully after Peruta is decided the lawyers can work on the other illegal questions they ask and the illegally long time this process takes. I helped two of my friends with the paperwork over the last year and they were both approved so maybe things will get better. As I said before not attaching you. You have done more than most.

I started a thread in the CA Activism forum just after the new year asking CGF when they'd release their state-wide survey of CCW stats. I most recently bumped it a couple of weeks ago. As far as I know, they still haven't released it.

Here's a state-wide survey published in June re. # of CCWs per county as of 2014 Dec 31. Note well it is a "gross" number and includes CCWs for "reserve officers", judges, and everyone else, so that's a "maximum" number. I *think* their numbers include CCWs issued by cities within those counties as well.

A catch in state law gives local law enforcement officials complete discretion to interpret California’s primary requirements for anyone wanting to carry a concealed gun. Some counties grant permits to anyone who’s eligible, while others maintain a strict standard.

FWIW it shows Riverside had a total of 1,094 issued CCWs as of last New Years Eve. Going from ~1,100 to 3,100 in 9 months would be quite a feat!

I look forward to CGF's numbers.

However, once Calguns members determined to find out what the reality was, the statistic held true and not just for Jewelers, realtors, and business owners as we were led to believe.

As I've said before and I'm sure I'll be saying again and again. The reason more people didn't have permits is because they didn't apply because they were misled by people that said they were "in the know."
        Sleighter,

You are likely the most knowledgeable person regarding the RivCo process at this time. I don't doubt that you are more current on info than anyone.

However, having been in this system of RivCo CCW for quite some time, I can say truthfully that the system has only been as you know it for a relatively short time.

The reality a few short years ago was that only people with GC's of a business nature were being approved. Yes, there was an atmosphere of discouragement from the department. Not from the level of Aguirre and Yezzo (they have always been great to deal with), but from the policy makers above them. People were not being misled by those "in the know". This was truly the situation.

The low number of permits in the past is a direct reflection of the department itself, not a simple fear of applying.

The positive note is that this situation appears to have changed, and more "regular" people are applying and getting approved. Just realize that there were others before you that likely laid the groundwork for the change we are seeing today.

Thanks for all you do to further the cause and help applicants through the process.

Hey guys I'm interested in getting my ccw permit but had a few questions in regards to formulating a gc statement. Can anyone help me? I don't have anything out to the ordinary that I would be able to use like carrying large sum of money. I want to get this part down before I schedule an appointment.

Please call and schedule an appointment TOMORROW. You'll have until March of next year to complete the paperwork and your good cause. During that time a lot can change, but we will help you with your good cause anyways.

Will do, thanks again. Once I get my appointment I'll write out a statement and my daily activities and see what I can form.

Don't worry about that. You'll have lots of time to fill it out. Months and Months and Months and Months and Months.

And after your interview you have months and months to buy more guns to fulfill your ccw 6 max policy.

Don't get all riled up but why would you want six guns on a permit. I would rather be very familier with one or two. This means lots of pratice on a regular basis. In a moment of very high stress I would think trying to remember which of the six and all the sutulties of getting it into action as soon as possible would be a disadvantage. Maybe it's just me. If you can do all that more power to you.

I'm a six gun guy. I don't have a problem remembering how to operate a semi automatic pistol. The deputy at qualifications tried telling me the same thing you're touching on. But I can pick up any pistol mine or someone else's and shoot *****ing with it. I guess I'm blessed though. If you have a hard time hitting targets with different pistols then yes definitely stick to one or two. But small guns are good for carry on your person. Larger ones can be useful in the truck or smart car.

Hi , I wasn't worrying about hitting a target. I was more worried about remembering wheather it was one of my single/double action or straight double action only, where the safety is on each gun, how many rounds do I have etc. I'm told that your motor skills suffer under extreme stress.

Options... Why not have six on your list, even if you tend to only carry one or two?

Good to have all 6 of them on your permit, just for the convenience when making range trips.
I stock with my g30 98% of the time, but still have to stay on top of range time with my lcp and lcr.
During semi simulated stress drills lcr and lcp have 2 clicks before reset while my glock has 1.
Try to pull the trigger after the first click with lcr or lcp and no go.
Lcr is easy ,but the lcp would process as a malfunction mentally, without a bunch of reps. Look,Tap, rack/roll.
Target shooting is easy, introduce stress and things change.

It's great to have options. Carrying also depends on the weather and clothing. Having 6 options and understanding how each work and of course practice practice practice is key. The county gives me 6 so I'll take advantage of all six.
